Ok, its a soap. the longest running ever inthe UK. It;s about Manchester, and at LASt it has a gay and credible plot:
http://www.itv.com/page.asp?partid=600&DPParentID=&DPID=507 and look at the Tod and Eileen grimshaw parts.
Tod came out to his mother last night and it was breathtaking and real. He got it right. It must have hit home with especially those of us who are gay and married and watching with our wives, the more so if closetted. I hope it goes right and does some decent good for gay lads in the UK
Agaijst it, next week is "Fairy Godfathers" a makeover show where a pair of queens get to makeover two straight men and "make them a little more gay". oh please!::-)

...'making over' me, that's for sure! *giggles*
Yes, I'm feeling silly right now. Sorry. That TV soap does sound interesting, I haven't seen/heard of anything like it since QaF (even though that's not a soap).
Wonder if that gay character is based on the experiences of one of the writers perhaps? Probably not personally, but someone close, or a friend (of a friend).

direct my sail."

Coronation Street Star Bruno Quits
By Anita Singh, Showbusiness Editor, PA News
Coronation Street star Bruno Langley is quitting the soap.
Langley, currently at the centre of a sensational gay storyline as teenager Todd Grimshaw, told bosses today that he wanted to leave.
After four years on the show he has decided it is time to leave “on a high”.
“I have worked at Coronation Street since I left college at 18 and I feel it is time to develop myself as an actor,” Langley said.
“The last four years have been some of the happiest years of my life and I wouldn’t have missed this opportunity for the world. The cast and crew of Coronation Street have been like my second family.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed working on some fabulous storylines and it feels as though now is the best time to leave, both for myself and the character.
“The current storyline has been fantastic to play and I am looking forward to seeing how the writers will develop it for my departure.”
Mixed-up Todd is torn between pregnant fiancee Sarah and gay nurse Karl Foster.
Viewers will soon see him bed Karl while Sarah is in hospital – and fireworks follow when she learns of his betrayal.
Scriptwriters have promised Langley a dramatic exit as the love triangle story reaches its climax.
But he will not be killed off – leaving the door open for a possible return.
Coronation Street producer Tony Wood said: “Bruno is a talented young actor with a great future ahead of him. He has been an asset to the show and his portrayal of the sexually confused Todd Grimshaw has been superb.
“He will be missed by everyone here but we fully understand his desire to further his acting career and wish him every success for the future.”
Todd first appeared in the soap in 2001 with mum Eileen and brother Jason.
He has been at the centre of one of Coronation Street’s most controversial storylines in recent years.
The first sign of his confusion came last year when he made a drunken pass at Sarah’s brother Nick – the Street’s first gay kiss.
He managed to push his feelings to one side and proposed to Sarah, who is now expecting his baby, but then fell for Karl.
The pair kissed last week and Todd confessed to his stunned mum Eileen.
The storyline has earned him a legion of gay fans.
Langley said recently: “I used to get fanmail from girls saying ’my sister wants to marry you’.
“But it’s changed after the kiss. I get a lot more attention from gay men. Even in the supermarket blokes come up for a chat.”
