I found the possible answers a little limiting. I don't see Sam as purely gay, not even Frodo for that matter. I do however think there is a strong possibility they were involved in gay-type relationship during their quest but Sam, being practical as he is decided to break up and marry Rosie Cotton when he returned to the Shire. So I think they were both involved in a gay relationship, but neither is expressly gay, instead potentially bi.
As for the actors, I think this is a little more clearcut, but I still the option for bisexuality should be available, unless bisexuals are just considered "gay".
ALSO I think that there should be options for other members of the fellowship potentially. I don't think Sean Astin is gay at all, but Dominic and Billy? They make my gaydar blip a little more often. Just some ideas that you may or may not want to take into consideration. It is still a fun quiz and a good idea for sure!

There have always been rumours in the media and on fan sites, etc. about Elijah and one of those two, can't remember which one. Supposed to be a couple...or were, at one point.
Good thought about the bi possibility for both or all of the above, Shem! More people define themselves as bi nowadays that when I was young...and I think that's probably a good thing!

he's often linked with dom, however during the filming for LotR, he was living with orlando for like, a year and a half -- and orlando has claimed himself, outwardly, as bi-sexual, in more than one article.
this of course doesn't MEAN that eli is gay, however ... come ON. living in close quarters with ORLANDO for that long, as well as dom, and NOT get a little something on after-hours? i just don't see it NOT happening.
there's also a lot of strange rumors around elijah and the very, very few girls he's dated; there's a lot of things you can tell in his posture and body language when taking pictures/photo shoots with female co-stars, and frankie, who he dated during/after the filming of try seventeen (released in the U.S. as all i want), often commented about how aloof he was, like he "wasn't ready for anything serious."
which could very well be true--he IS young, but perhaps he's not ready for anything serious with a girl? his on screen kisses/sexual scenes with frankie, and with whoever-i-can't-remember in the faculty were always very ... awkward. granted, this is on screen, but usually they make it be NOT awkward through many takes, right? and while try seventeen calls for 'awkward', at the end it does not. it goes closely hand-in-hand with how he acts around girls off-camera, and numerous reports.
but like all things, we only see one half of the story when reading articles and the like, but ... i still hold true to the fact that if he didn't get it on with orlando or dominic, he wants to. ;-D
my void does not want.
