With regret I have accepted smith's instruction to remove his stories from the site. My hope is that this is a temporary event, and that he will both write again and allow his stories to come back here. At present both his stories and his email address have been removed.
I was thinking, foolishly, of putting a poll here to ask him to put his stories back, but the alternative answer "please do not" seemed stupid. So, I have created a "vote counter" for you. It may not make him change his mind. But he will see how much we love him

Was so long since he spoke to me, and I don't really know what I did wrong, because he hasn't told me.
I'd rather spend five minutes of his time with HIM, than ten hours with his stories coz I wanna be his friend and I miss him.

it's sad to hear that smith has requested to removed his great stories from the site. only yesterday, on another board i am on, his stories were recommended as "must read"
smith, i don't know if i ever wrote to you, and if so it was under a different alias than this one here, but your stories touched so many people and made them laugh and cry, so i hope that you will reconsider this.

Hey smith, sorry to see you go. I thought your stories were the tops. You dealt with issues I couldn't.
I hope one day you'll feel you can come back.

-- no, that wasn't a request to know information that is not my business, i am just ... very sad. very very sad and confused and quite lost.
after reading chris/nigel, it was his stories that caught my attention next. the fleeting friendship i got to have with him was more cherished than he could possibly know. i am sorry that i lost it. i am sorry he's hurting or having something cause him to now withdraw his writing from here, too.
i hope he will be okay..:'-(

As much as finding out about this makes me hurt for myself, it makes me hurt infinitely more for you, smith (somebody I so respect and admire).
Please know that you did absolutely nothing to cause any of this to come about, and so you shouldn't in anyway think of yourself as responsible for any of it.
And above all, please know that there are far (far!) more people who love you (genuinely love you).
Hang in there, buddy, and please come back.

Dear J.,
I hope you are ok. I hope you know lots of people care about you. I first heard about IOMFATS when a friend recommended "Just Hit Send". It's still my favorite story.
If you need some space, you've got it. If you need a friend, you have many. I wish I could send you whatever you need, but since I can't, I hope you find it where ever you are.
Smiles and Sunshine,
Cyndie

A few years ago, another great author suddenly disappeared. "Driver" -- very much like "smith" -- wrote stories that made me feel optomistic, good, and believing that the world would be okay. In the case of "Driver", he was the victim of a stalker. Only by disappearing was he able to find peace and a feeling of safety. I learned of his disappearance only when some friends of his recently resurrected his stories in a new Web site, a site without any E-mail address (even for the Webmaster).
I just hope that "smith" was not also driven into hiding by some sick individual. I also hope that "smith" himself is not ill (which temporarily removes other authors from Nifty from time to time).
Yes, I am curious about the circumstances of "smith's" disappearance. But that really is his own private affair. I know that he wrote as a hobby; no one paid him for his excellent work. Thus, he owes us nothing. I just hope he is well and that, some day, we will celebrate his return.

JJ, your stories were always bright spots in my day that I looked forward to. but it was more than just your stories, it was you. I haven't been around much lately and don't know whats going on, I know only that you have been absent. You can email me if you want to talk about it. Be safe.

Hiya baby,
I don't know if you'll ever read this, kiddo, but I hope everything's going okay with you. While your stories touched my innermost feelings to the core, I have to say that they are nothing compared to your wellbeing. You've taught me so very much and you are wiser than many 60-year-olds. If you are truly going, I'll miss the time we shared talking about any ol' thing and I wish you the best in all your endeavours. Your presence around here will be sorely missed.
Missing you already,
Tom

smith, whatever has caused you to take this action, I am sure that the decision has not been taken lightly, and of course I hope that you find all the support here that you need during what is undoubtedly a difficult time.
Please, take all the time that you need. Don't feel forced into staying or going unless you are totally comfortable wih whatever it is that you choose.
If, when, you are ready to come back then we will be waiting for you.

I write this to smith and hope this reaches him and that we may agree on this.
A while ago, I found this website and message board, and began reading Just Hit Send. It was such a wonderfully written story and because of the story we began to write back and forth. You so deeply touched my heart with the way you so simply yet eloquently wrote of the love and struggles between two boys... and then men...
We became friends even though we have never met. We have shared our lives, thoughts... good and bad... and now you have gone.
I sit in my chair now after reading all this with tears in my eyes and on my face... wondering if I could have helped you... or been there for you to help you.
Unless we meet again... I will always wonder about you... and love you for touching my life in the way you have.
I achingly miss you :'-( :'-( :'-( :'-( :'-( :'-( :'-( :'-( :'-(

Hi,
I respect your wish to stop writing and remove your stories from iomfats.
However, I think that "Just hit 'Send'" should be available on the Internet because it addresses a special subject that seldom is touched in such a beautiful way.
I've done some searching and math and found this:
Statistically, there are between 4000 and 7000 gay teens on wheelchairs in USA and Europe, with a lot more added each year.
If just one of those comes by and finds hope reading "Just hit 'Send'", your effort will be very very worthwhile.
Think about it.

I have to agree with Kimo-bcn,that young smiths stories carry a positive and important message to teens that are disabled.Perhaps I am wrong in this assumption that the complete story is not being told.I also greatly respect smiths need for privacy. So be it.I wish the young man well and completely support his decision.Rare talent should not be suppressed.I hope and pray that we again see that talent in the future.Another good reason why positive feedback to the author is so important. respectfully sparks

Support is an excellent counter to the unplesantness that he was sent by email. Thank you for that thought. He was sent repulsive material. Support makes it go away.
