Look at this tree. I cannot make it blossom when it suits me nor make it bear fruit before its time [...] No matter what you do, that seed will grow to be a peach tree. You may wish for an apple or an orange, but you will get a peach.

I have a feeling the ducklings are ok, but I do see your point. I somehow doubt they fell through

This was in the paper awhile back. The photographer called 911, they came and paramedics removed the grate cover, rescued the little duckies that had fallen onto a ledge and the duck family was taken back to their lake. When it was seen that this was a common duck path, the city put a new grate on the openings from the lake to the park where the ducks were headed that was too tiny for duckies to fall in Very Happy They also have these funny signs that say "Duck Crossing".

So, happy ending for 5 little duckies Smile

there is a town nearby, Castellia Ohio, where there is a great spring that never freezes, even in the coldest winters. Around the banks of the spring which is right in the center of town there have to be 30,000 ducks. All going which ever way and whereever they want all at the same time.

I always stop for ducks trying to cross the busy street.

Ducks are........well........

Ducky.....

I saw that pic too on a website the other day, it was labelled as a photochop (ie: a faked image). As there are some mighty skilled photoshop users out there I didn't doubt it at the time, now I guess it might be genuine after all, or it might be what papers in Sweden call a "newspaper duck"; IE a story that is first thought to be true but then turns out to not be. Wink

Anyway, if there were any actual ducks that fell through that grating, I'm glad they got rescued! Smile

Seattle is a place much like your spring that never freezes...we host a boatload of ducks all winter long on the lakes and ponds in town, but they tend to keep a relatively low profile, due to the presence of an overwhelming number of Canadian Geese. These geese live here all year round, having apparently decided that migration is an enormous hassle and a waste of time, and create severe goose poop problems on all the lawns and gardens surrounding the lakes and ponds here. They are belligerent, arrogant and generally fowl. There is nothing like driving along in your car down a country road only to find yourself suddenly surrounded by hundreds of geese who have no interest in hurrying, and who are not alarmed by your car horn. I keep suggesting that these geese present a very easy way to solve the problem of feeding the homeless in seattle, but for some reason, no-one is listening.

"Generally fowl", that totally cracked me up. Hehehe!

You have a great sense of humor which shines through, and there's also an well thought-out underlying foundation as well (in my opinion anyway, in case it counts for anything). Thanks for coming here and sharing with us! Very Happy

Hugs.

Here the ducks have the right of way.... there are "duck crossings" everywhere....

Here in Sandusky we are right on lake Erie and there is a massive goose problem as well.... it seems you cant walk in a park any more without having to scrape goose poo from your shoes....

I had a roast goose once... A very old uncle with a farm made it one christmas,,, I think I was about 8 years old at the time...

it was yummy...
