I just got back from a week in South Carolina. Very hot! Very humid! Very fun! We stayed on Edisto Beach but somehow I never actually made to the beach itself. Did tons of other stuff though. Got to thougroughly impress my family (wife, my brother, his girlfriend, my sister, her husband, my mother, and grandmother) with my cooking. I cooked dinner twice and breakfast twice (all meals, of course, included grits). They thought it was pretty incredible. I thought it was good. We went to Drayton Hall (an old plantation house that wasn't burned during the Civil War), and Magnolia Plantation, the Charleston Historic district, got lost on the way to the airport, and ate at some realy great restaurants. I also bought three cookbooks chock full of low country recipes.
I missed you guys. I took my laptop, but couldn't seem to get on the internet. :'-( I kept getting an error message so I eventually gave up. On the way, we got trapped in Texas by rain and flooding. At George Bush airport nonetheless. The storms delayed our landing and by the time we arrived, we had missed our connecting flight to Charleston. But the wait was worth it, if only for the experience I had in the restroom. ::-) No nothing like that. Boy you people have dirty minds. ;-D It was a poem inscribed on on the wall in one of the stalls.
Here I sit, butt cheeks flexin',
givin' birth to another Texan.
If I really push 'n push,
It might look like Dubya Bush.
If I push a little harda
It might look just like his fadda.
I think you have to say those last two lines with a little Texas drawl.
Think good thoughts,
e
