Gaydom as a social force has its FLAG and its PRIDE days and parades....
Now it is time to adopt a mascot....
And I am looking for suggestions....
Life is great for me... Most of the time... But then I meet people online... Very few are real friends... Many say they are but know nothing of what it means... Some say they are, but are so shallow...

That is easy. And the answer will screw my old school!
The bird is a Phoenix. And that is the emblem of my school!

I'd have to agree with Timmy.
It was your Kevy that gave me some
links to "gay" insignias and the such.
That's when I saw that the Pheonix has
been associated with homosexuality for
a long time.
I've one for my Avatar on the left.

Bert and Ernie from Sesame street: the first gay couple on TV. definitely cute enough for a mascot and a great role model for relationships, which it seems to me that so many in the tribe are moving toward. I mean, they've been together for years.

As many in here well know, e does not need much incorrigment.
Teacup poodles are nice, but I was talking about a full-sized, prissied up, poofed out poodle with little bells on the collar and a pink ribbon around its tail. or maybe even died pink inwhich case you'd have to use a purple ribbon. ;-D ;-D ;-D

No one said it had to be a beast with 4 legs did they?
Look at this tree. I cannot make it blossom when it suits me nor make it bear fruit before its time [...] No matter what you do, that seed will grow to be a peach tree. You may wish for an apple or an orange, but you will get a peach.

Nope, it doesn't have to be a quadraped.
But I think it should be something that exemplifies the qualities of gaydom.

How about a Grayhound? Svelte, fast, always in style, and very good at chasing the unattainable. d

when i take up driving buses as a career, i'll use a grayhound as my mascot. Till then, i think i'll pass.
just for the sake of clarity, what is the difference between a symbol (as in a pink triangle or a rainbow) and a mascot? and will this mascot also represent the full spectrum of queerness, or just gay men?

Not to be politically incorrect, but I think this mascot should be symbolic all that is right and good about gay men.
Graphic images like rainbows and pink triangles are fine as symbols of a cause but they just don't convey the deeper more personal aspects of a gay lifestyle.

... an especially humorous caricature of a "Bird of Paradise"? Frankly, given the broadest possible interpretation to living the "Gay" life-style nothing would be more fitting.
I'm certain AndySomething could jimmy rig a suitable logo for you should you ask. I know he's capable, with the right temperament to bring to the task.

Given what i know about gay men in general, and some fairly specific comments that a lesbian friend made to me a couple years ago, I think Peter Pan wouldn't be a bad mascot for the gay lifestyle...especially as tomorrow is my 40th birthday... I'm buying my denture adhesive, viagra and hair club for men membership next monday.

I have given this much thought and I believe the best choice for a mascot for gaydom would be none other than the ubiquitous and ever popular.....
