I want to thank all of you for your prayers and sweet words and kind thoughts. My friend is beginning to breathe again and look for a bit of sunshine. We all know that this kind of pain never fully goes away but it does lighten and life does go on. As long as you keep the person you love in your heart, he never leaves your life.
His family and close RL friends are being wonderful. His parents have just hugged him and given unconditional love. It's what we all wish for. They have gone to the beach to give him a fresh outlook and his boss was even great enough to hold his job till he can return.
Everything that has been done for him; your thoughts, his family's love and all the encouragement has helped him make it through. He has a long way to go but he has made it through the worst.
Thank you so very much

thanks for the update. Your friend's plight has weighed on my mind. i'm so glad he's going to be ok, from the sound of it.

That's such good news, smith. A certain little kat and I have been praying for your buddy. Along with probably everyone else here. Losing someone so close is like ripping out a part of your own soul. And while you're right, that never really heals or goes away, it does lessen with time. That, and other things do come into your life. Other loves will enter your life, other souls will touch yours.
Keep the faith, my little bro. Things will smooth out for you and for your friend.
It's not the wolf you see you should fear, but all the ones he howls with. Don't be afraid of the song, but don't piss off the choir.

It's good to know the worst for him is over. Not gone, because it never does go, but even a slight easing of the initial anguish is a blessed relief. I hope he realises that we haven't just forgotten about him after your initial letter and our replies then.
Who knows? Perhaps his path may bring him into contact with a similarly lost soul, and as a result of his own experiences, he will be all the stronger to help them. Fate has strange ways of crossing paths in life.
I hope he continues to get better and cope more productively with this tradegy, using it to strengthen his inner self.
I wish him luck and hope, and love.
