Back forth, back forth
Forward, halt; about face, retreat
What a life my firend, what a life
Everyday the same as the day before,
I think
I look to the sky; still there
I look to the ground; still blue
That creak in my spine? Oh my! Still there
The light reflects off the glassy floor
Waves bounce; I’m blinded
Flashes continue incessantly
On off; black white
Everyday the same as the day before,
I think.
Please let me frolic
Run free with the others
I swallow;
Don’t worry;
Just needed a drink
I long to voyage!
I want to see,
The magical stories, told by others.
Yet I’m chained
Tied to my doom
The waters so cold
Frightfully cold
I hope my seams don’t split.
My toes are submerged
They have been for so long
I’ve forgotten how they appear
They’ve not moved in years
The foghorn sounds; Dear lord!
My memory returns
It must be morning
Sighing I straighten myself
Try to hold firm
Another day same as before;
I think.
The foghorn sounds again,
My body shivers in remembrance
Back forth; up down.
Wait a moment:
This isn’t right!
In the distance I see a glimmer off the glassy surface
Closer it comes,
Closer.
The steel acknowledges me
Metal collides fast
Chipping my side
Rumbling it pushes forward.
I wince in pain. And hold my ground
I wont let him move me!
Another piece flakes away,
More of him pushes in;
He wraps a wet arm around me,
Pulling tight
I can’t get away
I’m suffocating God!
I’m to young to die!
Sputtering I try to raise my mouth
I can’t die; I can’t
Manic voices echo loudly above me
Their footsteps reverberate
My limbs feel the pain
Part of my back cracks
The pain grows,
The steps amble away
What’s that?
I feel something still rubbing...
“Oh My” I cry out
I feel the steel rub
Slowly I try to slide away
My lines strain
No use,
I’m tied to strong
Everyday the same as before
I think
Why are you wearing that stupid man suit?
