Hey y'all! I noticed I really haven't posted since June, and oh boy, has lots happened since then.

I was reading my post from June, and I can't help but laugh to myself. My workout regiment lasted all of about, oh, say, 5 days, lmao. I do have a fitness membership here at school, though, and I'm gonna be taking some pilates and washboard abs classes. Sad) My hair also still remains the same for the moment, and I'm not sure color would be the best option at this point. But enough about that, let's talk about the present moment!

Like I mentioned, I graduated on June 5th. Most of my summer was spent getting ready for college and getting in my final precious moments with my friends. It was possibly the best summer ever. I love my friends to death and I miss them already.

Right before college, I got set up with a boy. ::-) He's a real sweetheart, and we had a very nice first date (perhaps a little too nice). ::-) Unfortunately, since we were both headed off to college, we decided it best to hold off on anything permanent. I was also a little apprehensive that our personalities didn't work too well, but he's a great guy, and we still talk a lot. It was still a nice moment, for sure.

Well, what can I say about college? It's awesome, I'm loving every minute. I've met some amazing friends who are just incredible. I'm not "out" at all to my close friends just yet. I'm not very comfortable with it just yet, so I will definitely wait and go at my own pace. I must admit, though, I had a tough time adjusting without my "comfort zone", but I'm having a fun time just the same. I figure it's not a requirement to be out, so I'll just do it when the time comes, y'know? No rush. Classes are going well, the workload piled up a little bit this week, but I was able to trudge through it pretty unscathed.

I also mentioned that I met the one and only Teresa Heinz Kerry last Thursday. Wow, that was pretty incredible. I think she's a great role model. I haven't recieved word about my paper from her just yet, but I'm sure it will take a while (if she even responds!). We also got a visit from the super-hott Michael Phelps. Ohmygod. Whoooooo. Hottness personified. He's super cute in person and his smile melts me. I have his autograph. Smile

The biggest development, though, is that I went to my first gay apartment party last weekend. I didn't know if I'd feel comfortable, though, since I'm not fully out yet, and I'm not usually a big fan of the gay scene. I dunno, I just don't think it's a perfect fit for me. My personality's a little different. But anyway! So I went, and I had a pretty good time. I met, by far, the hottest gay boy ever. He's so cute and he's so nice, too, not an ass or anything. We sat down and talked for, what I've been told, was an hour. He's not out, either, and he lives in the next town over from my hometown. He knew kids from my high school! Everything was perfect!

Then I met his boyfriend. Ew.

Yeah, after all that talking and flirting, too. Well, I don't know. I asked if they were "together", and he said yes. Who knows, things change all the time. I got his number so I'm planning on calling him tomorrow to see what's going on this weekend. They can't be together forever.

Well, what else? Hmm. Being a meteorology major, I've been constantly monitoring the hurricanes. How crazy has it been? I'm glad to hear that smith and Sammy and all our other Floridians have survived, but I'm sure there's a lot of cleanup to do. I'm thinkin' of you guys. I miss ya, Muffin! E-mail me when you get a chance, mmkay?

And I miss everyone else, too! If you have any questions about what's going on around here (because I know I've totally missed so many things if I recaped the last 3 months in 7 paragraphs), just post 'em and I'll post back. Miss y'all horribly, talk to ya later!

Jeez, Tommy...can't believe all these folks read yer update and haven't written a reply! Must be they haven't seen yer pic lol...

Seriously, I am sooo glad to hear from you! I totally agree that you should only come out to whomever and whenever you choose, and not before. My personal rule is not to come out to somebody unless it's getting in the way that the other person doesn't know. Then I tell them for sure.

Good luck in the cutie hunt, and keep studying.

And when ya change yer hair, I want an update sent to me ASAP!::-) Razz :-* :-*

Hey Tom!

Great to see you again! It’s been too long!

You obviously had a most valid reason, though, what with the summer you had, and now with starting college. It’s so terrific to hear how much you’re enjoying life, and I hope it only gets better. That date and that party were important steps for you, helping you to realize even more that there are indeed others like you, and to making you feel more comfortable being around them (some of whom probably feeling just as awkward as you did). As for being out, I’m sure you know that you are your own best expert as to “when” and “to whom”, so just keep on trusting yourself (I have confidence in you!). Just stay safe, ok? (I also know you know that all too well, that you don’t need me or anybody else to remind you of it; but I say it only in the spirit of friendship).

I must admit I’m more than a little jealous of you “schmoozing” with such celebrities as the next First Lady of the United States (God, I hope so!) and (sigh!) Michael Phelps. Perhaps you can point me in the direction of your college’s admissions office!

As for your major, who knows? Maybe one day it’ll land you a job a chief meteorologist at one of our Floridians’ local TV stations, where they can actually watch you track future hurricanes. As those state lottery commercials say, “Hey, you never know!” Whatever direction it may steer you in, you know we all wish you every success!

May the demands of college life still allow you to make at least the occasional posting (and the occasional chat). All the best, Tom!
