On Thursday, 4 November 2004, at 2100 hrs GMT BBC2's Horizon programme will deal with the infamous case of the Reimer twins fron Winnipeg, Manitoba, one of whom, Bruce, had his penis burnt off in a botched circumcision and was brought up as a girl.
Not a programme for the faint-hearted and I'm not sure that I'm going to watch it.
I dream of boys with big bulges in their trousers,
Never of girls with big bulges in their blouses.
…and look forward to meeting you in Cóito.

Oh those videos are hard to watch :'-( i'm sure if i had been any older at the time it would have brought back some very very painful memories. As for anestetic, rumor is my doctor gave me a shot of rum. imagine that, giving a 3 day old baby a shot of rum then slicing off his forskin, how cruel. I'm not mad at my parents for having it done, they were told by the doctors that it was the right thing to do and so like many other people they just accepted what the doctors said as true and had it done. I do feel betrayed by the medical world and i feel angery. It really sucks having to pay for a very stupid decision that wasn't even yours to make. Still i had a forskin for 3 days and i can and have been restoring which has been an interesting, very slow prosess that requires increadable determindness. Unless there is some amazing medical breakthrough my penis will never be exactly the way it would have been at birth but life goes on.
As a side note, i still don't understand why anyone would think that it would prevent masterbation, well that's not exactly true, i do know through a little reasurch and a few interesting conversations with friends that it's comparitevely more difficult to masturbate without forskin but it never stopped me.
I have a funny feeling that history will look back on this practice in a smilar way as to how we look back now to doctors who drilled holes in people's skulls to stop headaches.
Pyro.
Do what you love, changing the world is incidental.

If my parents had been made to watch that video before their decision, I would still have my foreskin. All parents of boy babies should have to see that video and what the procedure actually involves before they consent to have it done on their enfant. I think it would change a lot of minds. It was very hard to watch.
