Don't let this happen to you!

I walked down the hallway struggling under the weight of my backpack and four textbooks that I had lashed together. They swung angrily from the end of the rope and people were beginning to stare at me. Hoisting the heavy books up I muffled their cries of disdain clutching the books close to my chest. Seeing my friend standing next to her locker and holding her car keys casually in one hand I hurried over and leaned heavily on her shoulder.

"Guess you really want a ride home today?" She said laughing and gently pushing my slouched body off of her arm.

Nodding my head furiously at her I readjusted my books. As soon as I let my grip on his mouth go the book bit my stomach. Yelping in horror I quickly squeezed the books against me hopeing that Amanda didn't notice me flinch.

She turned her head slightly and stared at my face, turning my head away from her and redirecting my eyes to the floor Amanda shrugged and started walking down the hallway with me closely in tow.

As we came near the end of freshman hallway it suddenly seemed as if everyone in the school had decided to congrugate there. Being pushed from all sides into Amanda and the wall I heard the voices of obnoxious freshman behind me. "Doesn't anyone know how to walk in here?" "COme on I have places to be!" "WAAaAAAAALLK" SOmeone screamed out pushing me into the person next to me.

Finally the people in the front who were blocking the doors seemed to get the hint and began to exit the building. I felt the books in my hands beginning to slip away from me ripping my shirt as they tried to escape. I hoisted the books onto my hip as if I was carrying a small helpless child and tried earnestly to follow my friend out of the door.

As I neared the door a girl wearing a short 80's style jacket that was covered in the imitation of some creatures fake hair pushed me out of the way my books slipping to the floor admist my classmates feet. Just as I feared they immideatly broke loose of the rope I had used to bind them and were now biting at the kids shoes causing them to trip and stumble cursing me for dropping them.

Crouching down on the floor I started to retrieve my insolent books prying them from their grip on the other students laces. AS I Quickly piled them up and pulled them close to me I burst out the doors of the school gasping in surprise to the number of people milling about and how cold the weather had become.

Looking down at my books I was pleased to see that the cold air and frozen them into place so that they were unable to move. Temporary paraliysis, my new favorite toy. Quickly dumping my English book into a pile of nearby snow just to make sure that it would stay quiet untill Amanda could get me to my house. Lookign around frantically I noticed that Amanda was no longer any where near me. Grabbing the books I high stepped my way through the foot of snowand ran into the middle of the road.

As I stood in the street I saw a car coming towards me, Holding tightly onto my books I felt them growling and cursing at the car. 'Damn I turned them the wrong direction' I thought as I hurried towards the silver car that was patiently waiting for me. As I approached Amanda's car I stopped in horror staring at it. Screaming I saw her car grimace at me the eyes blinked on angrily and its mouth turned up and barred it's ugly teeth, it was just daring me to come closer.

"What on Gods green earth are you doing!" Amanda shouted sticking her head out of the car window.

Taking one last look at the car I ran around to the other side making sure to stay clear of it's moouth. AS I passed in front of it's open mouth I saw the car spit at me, revealing it's fangs with blood running down them. Quickly, I jumped into the saftey of the car staring nervously around me waiting for something else to attack me.

Amanda just laughed nervously, "You sure your ok man? YOu are looking a little sick to your stomach."

As she finished her thought my English book began to growl and spit. Quickly flipping it into my lap and scratching its spine to try and get it to calm down I just stared straight ahead of me in disbelief, raking my fingers down the books cover.

As Amanda drove me home she didn't speak to me, occasionally she would turn her eyes off the road to glance at me as I sat in the car sweating and clutching my four textbooks. When we reached my house I quickly opened the door, "Th-th-thanks I said stuttering."

"Don't mention it," Amanda said quickly driving off as I ran into my house.

Throwing the demonic books onto the floor I put one foot on top of there covers and tried to reach the staple gun that was sitting by the front door. Quickly lifting my foot I fired a few rounds of staples into the books, as they laid there stunned I ran to find a wooden stake to stab through there souls.

As I returned with the stake and wooden mallet I saw that the books were beginning to slide around the floor and regain conciousness. Quickly I restacked all of the books that had tried to slither away and pounded the stake through there souls.

Three of the books lay dead my English book however continued to twitch as the life flowed out of its dead binding. Pulling the stake back out of the books I poked the book menacingly with it.

As I walked away to fix myself a snack I watched the book over my shoulder keeping one eye on it. I stopped moving as I saw the book flip itself over and try to walk away. Leaping from my place in the doorway between the living room and dining room I plunged the stake back into my English book repeatidly.

Once more I pulled myself off of the carpet and started to head back into the kitchen, I watched the book with one eye. Pausing right before I was in the kitchen I said, "Come on book! Try to save yourself now, I dare you."

With that my book gave one final shudder and shut its cover.

You using rope now to drag your books down the hall? You do realize that in 20 years, we will have chronic back pain from our backpacks! You ever started smellin somethin foul in class and, after shootin your friends very accusatory looks, realize it's your backpack? Arg!!!

Love the tale ~ you're doin your English teacher proud!
