Today I'm putting the final touches on days of paperwork so I can go and pay someone to try and hold on to as much as my salary as he can, better known as tax time. Guaranteed to ruin your day. Do you guys in UK have to pay income taxes too? Are they as outrageous as they are in the US? It cost me thousands of dollars a year to keep Uncle Sam happy. That is just wrong.

You know what my CPA told me? “Shawn, you need to settle down, get married, and have a couple of kids. You need the deductions.” Right. Sounds like a plan. ;-D

Shawn, read this - and weep: http://www.accountancyage.com/features/1132959

(BTW - even this promise didn't help and they lost the next election.)

The paradox has often been noted that the United States, founded in secularism, is now the most religiose country in Christendom, while England, with an established church headed by its constitutional monarch, is among the least. (Richard Dawkins, 2006)
