Pupil, 12 gets life sentence for rape of his teacher

A 12-year-old boy who raped his teacher was today detained for life.
The schoolboy, one of Britain's youngest convicted rapists, attacked the woman as she sat next to him during a one-to-one teaching session.
He then stole her car and drove it for 30 miles before dumping it. The youngster, who has severe learning difficulties, had earlier admitted raping the teacher at a special needs centre in County Durham last November.
Sentencing him today at Teesside Crown Court, Mr Justice Grigson said: "These problems are not of your own making but it is plain that until these problems are dealt with you are very likely to commit other offences, other offences as serious as this. The public has to be properly protected until your problems have been assisted."
The judge told the boy, now 13, that he must serve at least 21 months before he could apply for parole.
But he warned him it was likely he would serve much longer. Mr Justice Grigson added: "You have admitted a very serious offence. You attacked a young woman who had done you no harm, indeed whose only intention was helping you overcome your particular problems.
"She was a very young woman who had her whole life ahead of her. You raped her."
He told the defendant that the woman's mental scars would take a very long time to heal, adding: "Despite your very young age, it's quite clear that you knew what you were doing.
"You waited until there was nobody in the building. She did not want you to do it but she was terrified of you."
Prosecutor Shaun Dodds told the court that the schoolboy, who lived in Darlington, received full-time personal sessions with the teacher.
He waited until they were alone in the building before he leapt from a desk and pounced on the teacher as she sat on a sofa.
The schoolboy then raped the petite woman, who was just 5ft 1in, before driving off in her car.

I agree, rape is awful, regardless of the age of participants. I'm VERY glad that things didn't get twisted into the teacher being charged for age of consent things, that would have been very screwed up. It's sad that something like this can happen though, it just goes to show that society needs some serious help.
