Yesterday my Mom was rushed to the hospital in the early am......
She has emphasema really bad and her breathing stopped yesterday......
The doctor said it could go either way without very much hope to offer...
In the past my Mom and I have had our difficulties but when it all comes down to the finite point of the matter she is the only Mom I have....
This is the kind of thing that I vervently try to avoid in my life and I am in no way possible ready to handle all of the implications that the lack of hope entails.
To make matters even worse, Kevy was hit by a drunk driver at 9am this morning.... hard enough to spin it around 1& 3/4 times.... He is OK but the van is quite totaled.
Sometimes I think it would be easier if I weren't here for all this...
Marc........
Life is great for me... Most of the time... But then I meet people online... Very few are real friends... Many say they are but know nothing of what it means... Some say they are, but are so shallow...

First things first. I know you and your mother have had odd times. But I can still pray for her.
Kevy is all right. That matters. I don't know the stae of insurance there. Here you woudl get the value of the van plus compensation for the whiplash that Kevy has.

I'm sorry about your Mom, Marc. That's very sad. Moms' are special. I will remember her in my prayers. I hope Kevy wasn't hurt too bad either.

There is no apparent change to her condition.....
Tomorow the doctors are going to remove the ventilator to see if she can breathe on her own.....
It does not look good.....

How does one reconsile oneself to making a decision to let go and turn off the switch?
How does one live with the ultimate unalterable certainty of the finality of a decision of this magnatude?
The doctors removed the ventilator machine each morning for the past three days and had to be replaced within five minutes.
This has just been a lousey week all around.......
And this one to come doesnt hold a great deal of promise either.......

The only thing you can do is to know that you will know for sure when the time comes.
I know it sounds trite.
You will look at things like "is she aware of what is taking place" and make decisions based on that if you are the decision maker.

Every time we've talked she has been improving. I pray the improvement remains. Please may we have an update?

Yesterday the doctors removed the breathing apparatus and she is (so far as I know) doing OK.
She is taking somewhat normal food now and is encouraged to sit up and walk with assistance.
My Dad said it could be 6-8 weeks until she will be allowed home if all goes well.
