Hi Tim - thanks for posting your message!

His message was in response to a text message I sent to Timmy in a state of great happiness a few minutes ago.

Well - two good things happened to me, both in the last couple of hours.

i. I've been looking for work/work experience in the film industry as a 'runner' (general dogsbody - how most people start out) now that the university term has just about finished. I've been emailing CVs and ringing up production companies and hadn't heard anything by yesterday evening so assumed I probably wouldn't until next Tuesday, because of the bank holiday...

ii. This evening I was at home with my father and I decided to approach him on the subject of sexuality - this being something I haven't really discussed before with him. Then I said to him:

"On the subject of relationships, would you mind if I brought home a boy instead of a girl?"

- which didn't really seem to throw him at all. He asked if I had anyone in mind. To which I said no. He thought for a moment, then said:

"Well, it is conventional to find a girl,"

- which is perfectly true. Then he added:

"I think life is probably more difficult for people who are homosexual. But I am aware that it is not always easy to control whom you find attractive."

to which I agreed. He said that he had some reservations about the gay scene; I pointed out that there is a difference between being homosexual - as in, attracted to the opposite sex versus being part of the stereotypical, camp, promiscuous gay "scene" - which I personally don't like the sound of (though I have no experience of it). So there was no problem there.

Finally, he said, "Well, both of us will support you regardless of who you choose,"

At which point - the phone rang. It was a friend of my father's who is involved in the UK television industry and was going to give me some advice. Then, just as I was about to speak to him, my own mobile phone rang and it was an assistant director for a short film being made over the next week wanting to know if I would be able to make a shoot tomorrow at 7:30. To which I of course agreed - my first professional experience!

It's a short film by a fairly new director, but it is being filmed on 35mm (which is expensive) and it appears to have a full crew and cast, so it will hopefully be good experience for me, and something that will look good on my CV.

So, up at 5:30 tomorrow morning for a film shoot (what I have been hoping for for the past 6 months) for 8 16-hour days of intensive shooting!

I hope that alleviates some of the mystery. Very Happy
