So I guess it's my turn now:
OK, this is obviously another musician. He too was a composer and pianist, but he's best-known as being the creative partner (if not the life partner!) of an even more famous composer and pianist.

OK, his field of expertise was jazz; and for over 30 years (until his untimely passing) he was the arranger for one of the greatest legends of all time (and yes, Tim, this legend was indeed "royalty", in a manner of speaking!)....

Part of the reason f0or this "quest" is to shwo us all just how MANY really impressive gay folks there have been. We all need role models and this is a perfect way of us finding so many

He wrote a musical and began composing as early as high school... He met Duke Ellington while in his early 20's, and impressed him with his ideas on how he would arrange his pieces. Eventually they began working together, and did so until his death in 1967 (cancer). He also wrote for several other musicians, literally up until his death, he wrote his last piece, "Blue Cloud", while in the hospital.
