Timmy'll know this one, so it could be over very quickly, depending on whether he wants to answer it or give someone else the opportunity... Smile

I would not have expected him in that position though! I will hold my fire.

You wouldn't? It is the director who plans and composes the shot and communicates this to the director of photography, who sets up the shot (lighting, lenses etc.) according to his specifications. Once the DoP has worked his magic the director will have a look and check that everything is set up nicely. Of course, this particular photograph was probably posed, as these days virtually all cameras - even 16/35mm ones - have video assistance and an external monitor so that the director doesn't have to put himself through the discomfort of looking through an eyepiece.

So... obviously, he's a film director. He's gay but he's also married... interestingly. He works in both theatre and film.

His first film, a 1998 short, was nominated for a BAFTA. His second, a 2000 feature, was nominated for 3 oscars. That makes it rather easy. His third was nominated for 9 oscars and won one. He has three more films planned... gosh, I must contact their production offices and see if they are looking for crew. Smile

That is kind of what I mean. Also I expect film directors to have megaphones!

Film directors rarely have megaphones. The first assistant director is the one who shouts at people and yells "action" and "cut", though normally by radio these days.

I imagine that that particular rumour was put around to distract attention from the real director, the unassuming one who is behind the scenes quietly discussing matters with the DoP and the actors.

Stephen Daldry, Director of Billy Elliot? If so, he's very much alive and thus ineligible under Timmy's rules!

If I'm correct, I surrender my turn to Deeej.
