I have removed the post on Islamic Headgear based on advice recived over http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/comrace/faith/crime/index.html I am not yet sure whether this law has been enacted, but I decided it was for the greater good to act ayway

I do realise this will be seen as censorship, and I would prefer to have allowed it to remain.

Timmy, we all know your views on censorship. I respect them - that's why I didn't ask you to remove the post. But can I say how very glad I am that you have !

It was not my personal preference to remove it. I have a genuine belief in allowing posts to speak for themselves. I was advised, however, that it might be legally unwise to allow it to remain.

considering that homosexuality is so abhored by such a vast number of religions even preached against then according to that document this entire site is at risk.

A bit over the top don't you think?

The crime is to incite particular religious hatred. That is hatred against a religion. I know that many religions hate homosexual people, but eotehr I am missing your point totally, or it is arse about face?

Dear Timmy, would the post have been alright if I had used "Mideastern terrorists"? I thought everyone knew that most M-----s love their fellow man, as do B--------s and H----'s. I guess accuracy no longer counts.

Most assuredly it would. Unless it had a racial hatred tone. We have laws about that as well. So due care is required. The laws are used, and used firmly.

The great majority of peoples and religions are peaceful. That we know for sure. The minority in any land are fanatical hotheads and do great harm. Also a given. Sometimes the fanaticll minority comes to power. Mao in China is a great example here. The problems really start at that point
