I have never wanted to go home so badly in my entire life. I survived Ivan last year, and now Dennis is moving straight up at us along the US Gulf Coast. It is going to hit us like a ton of bricks. I am so scared.
We may lose power and internet and phone for a long time. I may have to go into hospital during this new threat. I don't know how things will turn out. All I do know is that we're as prepared as we are likely to be at this point, and that all the things going on around us will likely slow to a crawl sometime in the very near future.
So I wanted to give a quick shout out to my water brothers. You know who you are. You know what I need/want/have to say. I know what you feel. I'm not giving up. I will be strong. I will fight on. I love you so very much and I will miss you during any enforced silence from this hurricane. God, I hope that we don't lose power. Hold me in your hearts and love me while I'm gone.
Love always, your friend, your warrior, your lil kat, your baby boi, your water brother and in all ways that matter, your Tyger. Sammy

I will be hoping for Mother Nature's mercy this time.
Look at this tree. I cannot make it blossom when it suits me nor make it bear fruit before its time [...] No matter what you do, that seed will grow to be a peach tree. You may wish for an apple or an orange, but you will get a peach.

Dennis was forecast to have the posibility of becoming category 5 when it hit though it thankfully weakened to a cat 3 before making landfall, in the end it was not only smaller than Ivan, but weaker. Thankfully. Sammy and Robby evacuated about 3 hours before the storm hit on advice of the local law enforcement when it was still expected to be a little bigger than it ended up. They were both a little scared and worried, but it was smaller than Ivan in all respects, so hopefully the damage isn't too severe.

Well, we just (like as in about two hours ago, lol) got power back on here. To say the least we're still digging out is an understatement. Three trees in the front yard fell over. I'll have pictures soon about that. Poor Robby, can't catch a break no matter what, tho. He was hoping that Dennis would trash his car so the insurance would help him consider a new one. NO SUCH LUCK. All that happened is some scratches, a few interesting dings in the body and a pine bough smashin in the windshield. No new corvette for D'Artagnon, it seems, LOL. He'll have to keep the POS Ford he has a while longer. )
We're lookin at some serious repairs tho. About a seven meter stretch of pipe got "adjusted" by Dennis when the trees in the front yard were toppled, so no inhouse water, for the moment. I'm just glad to have internet and air con back..... whew, i'm one stinky kat!
Anyways... here's the story. We got the word to evac, and bundled up. Robby and his sister and brother in law all packed us up quick as u please and we booked north for where Robby's Uncle lives in northern Alabama. His parents had already made the trip up with his niece. Neways, Like Shemmy said, we had about three hours on the storm before it made the shore. Yeah, well, tell that to the weather man, cuz we were driving all through the worst of the storm on the way out to Alabama. We woulda stayed drier stayin in the house! LOL So like, we got to Alabama, regrouped, got some supplies and headed back the next day, only to find the front yard a class one disater site. The trees that had fallen missed Robby's car by inches on both sides! We had to go around back to get into the house because the fallen trees were blocking the front door as well.
We spent the next few days tryin to move stuff around, cut trees, keep food on ice, and generally not get too wore out from the heat and humidity. It rains right about at noon every day now, sometimes with thunder. We had to eat from the gas BBQ grill out back (ummm, hotdogs!) and basically try like mad to keep from bein bored to tears. At night, the stars are just spectacular, and we sit around in the living room, still sweaty from the heat, playin guitar and singing, badly. LOL It's been a lot like going to summer camp, without the benefit of a lake to play in when it's too hot out.
Well, we got power back, and internet (praise be to lord bill gates) and Robby's parents just got back, so like now we get to play clean up inside the house. Everything is sorta getting back to normal here, just the little matter of the water to fix. But we survived it, and we're okay. I'm actually gettin a tan from bein outside without a shirt on so much lately, LOL. Now if I can just get a decent workout and get my muscles back, I'll be makein all the boys take second looks!
Neways, jsut wanted to give out a shout, let my pps know I'm okay and doin well. Thanks for all your prayers and thoughts, guys, i know they helped. Love yas, Tyger
