Actually this is the one Cossie was going to put in.

This gentleman was born in the UK but became a naturalised citizen of the USA in 1946 at the age of 42 and lived there until his death 40 years later. He is an author.

I was unaware there was a time limit on research for the next one in turn........

Life is great for me... Most of the time... But then I meet people online... Very few are real friends... Many say they are but know nothing of what it means... Some say they are, but are so shallow...

I think this is Alistair Cook ("Letter From America"). If I am right Marc can have my turn so that he won't feel left out Very Happy.

The paradox has often been noted that the United States, founded in secularism, is now the most religiose country in Christendom, while England, with an established church headed by its constitutional monarch, is among the least. (Richard Dawkins, 2006)

Christopher Isherwood was born in Cheshire in 1904.

His first novel, All the Conspirators, was published in 1928. The following year he moved to Germany and taught in Berlin. He continued to write and published The Memorial (1932), Mr Norris Changes Trains (1935), Lions and Shadows (1938) and Goodbye to Berlin (1939). Isherwood also wrote the plays The Dog Beneath the Skin (1935), The Ascent of F6 (1936) and On the Frontier (1939) with W. H. Auden.

Isherwood emigrated to the United States in 1939 and became an American citizen in 1946. Later novels include Prater Violet (1945), The World in the Evening (1954), Down There on a Visit (1962), A Single Man (1964) and Christopher and his Kind (1972). Christopher Isherwood died in 1986.

I've only read the Berlin novels and that was some years ago. They're fun especially if you know Berlin and know about the decadent Berlin of the late twenties and early thirties. He invents some very interesting characters based on his experiences there. I think one of the Berlin novels is the basis for the musical 'Cabaret'.

Hugs
N
