Since there is a vociferous minority that is desperately unhappy with the way I run things here, shall I just close it down?

I'll get back about half a gigabyte of server space and lose a lot of hassle and headache.

Frankly I am getting sick of running a place where people whine.

Sure I don't always get it right. But I am getting in the mood to stop doing it at all.

That I am afraid is your choice.

Do you, have you ever expected to have us just follow blindly in line like cute little ducklings in a row?

Sorry, but it doesn't work that way. Just as when something is right and you are swathed in loving brilliant adoration,,,,,,,, expect the other side of the coin when it isn't right.

And sometimes it just is not right.......

Who the hell remembers that this is Timmy's Board? That the only reason any of us talk here is cuz of Timmy? I don't get into the fights here cuz most times i just don't know enough to know what's goin on and like I learn by seeing how the "adults" debate stuff logically, compassionately and with a sense that they're tryin to build a better way for all of us, adult and kids alike. WTF is all this teen angst BS with the adults!?

Dudes, like take a step back and get a grip. I mean seriously, u guys love each other like brothers so like, i guess u fight like brothers too. Just remember to let it go like brothers sometimes.

Geeze, and for gods sakes, remember that sometimes what u think was said in anger might have a lot more thought and consideration going on than the emotions it first stirs. Like, u know, sarcasm sometimes can b good, but like don't make it all u r. Sarcasm is best served as a counterpoint to making logical arguments, as my tutor instructs me. It's a tool to establish a point, not a point in an of itself. Unless you are a comedian or a fool, and i hardly doubt anyone here is an outright fool, well, other than me, LOL.

Be cool to each other, kay? We like gotta hang together or we'll all just hang.

Tyger

Timmy, a vacuum is not a solution.

You know the world is divided into leaders and the led. If you put your head above the parapet, you're a leader. If you put your head above the parapet, you know you are going to get a load of crap. Just balance it out with the good times.

I try and read everything here, but must admit I get bogged down and some threads I just can't continue to read. If I have a criticism of the board, it's that there's not enough fun or humour. It mustn't be all fun; a balance must be struck.

Is there an ulterior motive behind the half a gigabyte of webspace?

Carry on, Timmy. You know my background. Over thirty years I took a hell of a lot of crap (criticism) but still laboured under the conviction that somewhere, somehow, I was doing someone some good. And if it weren't for circumstances in the past (and I am not referring to my health), I would still be doing it.

Carry on and take heart from all the good things you have done and are still doing.

BIG HUGS (I realise you hate being shouted at)

The half gigabyte? No ulterior motive. It compresses to about 78MB when I back it up.

But this is just not fun any more. And when one of us tries to produce fun there is always someone to slap it down. We're actually rather lukcy that the Famous Gays threads keep going.

On the very rare occasions when I remove a post, and I have never yet removed one for an invalid reason (~sits and waits for the inevitable brickbats~) I am challenged and challenged in such a manner that it would almost have been easier to leave it there.

If I ask for a topic not to be brought up someone will always rise to that and ask why, and then, being unsatisfied with any answer, will proceed to beat the topic to death.

It is just no fun any more. And it is being wfrecked by the lack of fun because the people who need to post or want to post do not post.

If I remember correctly....

I tried to begin a fun post reguarding BBQ food......

And it was trashed with a disgusting diversion to a link of a bottled peepee.

Fun is not for a lack of trying Tim....

You never let anything go, do you. I explained why I posted that. That explanation is at the bottom of that thread. You got the lot, explanation, apology, everything. You don't get it twice, you get it once.

I recall you turned that into a nightmare thread as well. Every explanation you were given resulted in a waspish remark.

Get a freaking grip!

I was not looking for an appology from you... I never would...

You said that there was no fun here.....

I said I tried.....

It's result was not the point....

It was the trying!

When an apology is justified you get one. You got it because it was justified. I happen to read something snide into the way you have said "I was not looking for an appology from you... I never would..." I have no idea whether you meant it as a snide remark or not, but it reads that way to me. And there you see how easily misunderstandings arise.

I apologise when things are justified. This one was, the more so since it was a transatlantic misunderstad=nding of slang used. It is at http://forum.iomfats.org/w-agora/index.php?bn=forumiomfatsorg_placeofsafety&key=1120984526&pattern=tube+steak&action=view

As for fun, it is the providing of and the runnimng of this board that is no longer fun. Being told to "get a freaking grip" makes it no fun either.

It is the behaviour that is unwelcome, not the person. This comment is not addresses specifically at you, Shwan. It is addressed at all who exhibit that behaviour. I have not said that you whine, remember. You have self identified with that statement.

Well if it is not fun then like I said, do what you have to do.

But is it really suposed to be fun all the time?

Is it not also there to do the things that it does,,,,, with all the eddies and currents that go along with a mixing bowl?

I admit I have a spoon and do my fair share of stirring.....

But you also have one as well.....

Threads like this one do alot to solicit kudo's from the masses for you and condemnation to the few that sometimes need to speak their minds. I don't say it's right, nor wrong.... It just is.

You know, just sometimes I get to stamp my foot too. And just sometimes I need reassurance that what I am doing is generally ok. Just sometimes I need to know that there is something positive that comes out of this. I spend my life 99.9% restrained and mild mannered.

So yes, it is a request, if you like, for approval. At the moment I feel the need for it, but only if it is appropriate.

I think I was the first one to mention fun – not that there was none here, but that we needed more. We then come up against the problem that sometimes humour doesn't translate. There's already been a thread on that.

There is a danger if people take t h e m s e l v e s (too) seriously, although out of courtesy they should be taken seriously by others.

One of my outside interests has almost torn itself apart because people have attained a high position and have then considered t h e m s e l v e s important.

The principle applies at all levels and I stress these remarks are general and in no way aimed at any individual.

(Now I feel like big sister sorting out the fighting brothers.)
