I think, on balance, a mention of acts of terrorism and the distress they cause is appropriate. I am only doing it because of the importance that this date has been given. I would like to see that importance reduce. It needs to fade because terrorism is truly unimportant.
Nonetheless I understand the shock and grief of the US People at being attacked on their home soil.
What I feel is not appropriate is either to deify the victims or to make devils out of the perpetrators. Global terrorists are a fact. The only way to defeat them is to treat them as an irritant and to despise them.
