(Cossie, please note that the subject line begins with a conjunction - as requested.)

Very British, very dead, very gay.

This shouldn't take you too long, but clues will be made available if you get stuck.

The paradox has often been noted that the United States, founded in secularism, is now the most religiose country in Christendom, while England, with an established church headed by its constitutional monarch, is among the least. (Richard Dawkins, 2006)

That small slug he's balancing on his top lip truly does not suit him!

OK, Harry Houdini?

Author of Queer Me! Halfway Between Flying and Crying - the true story of life for a gay boy in the Swinging Sixties in a British all male Public School
OK, it seems that a clue is needed.  [message #27281 is a reply to message #27276] Sat, 31 December 2005 19:24 Go to previous messageGo to next message

No, Timmy, it is not Houdini!

He was born 1st January 1897 and died 35 years ago. Although a very successful novelist he did not achieve great fame until his novels were adapted to the cinema - even though during his lifetime he adamantly refused to permit his books to be transferred to the screen. A few years ago an unpublished novel of his became a virtual gay icon as a movie. (Now I've probably given too much away Wink.)

Thomas Mann?

Life is great for me... Most of the time... But then I meet people online... Very few are real friends... Many say they are but know nothing of what it means... Some say they are, but are so shallow...
