A while back there was a poll (I think it regarded attitudes toward anal sex) and you had mentioned, timmy, that there where extra reasons for posting the poll and the wordings used in the poll and, since the poll is no longer up (like i said this was a while ago), what where those reasons and what is the story behind that poll. I apologize if this has already been cleared up but it's just been bugging me ever since.

The poll can be found on the "old polls" page Smile

The reasons are both simple and complex. I provided some help to http://www.keshetrabbis.org in terms of web optimisation advice when they launched. I also very much support their aims and objectives.

One of the movers and shakers behind it was also concerned about the spiritual legality under judiac law (there is a technical term for all of this, but it is beyond my memory) of anal penetration.

He asked me to find out attitudes to it.

As we all know, penetrative sex is not a requirement of a loving relationship. Some gay men never penetrate nor are they penetrated. Indeed why should it take place at all unless both parties wish it?

If you read the stories here often you will also find a tale "Pilgrim's Progress" (use the site search engine, not the messagebaord search) that handles this issue.

Whether the polls was of use or not I have no idea. But it was published and the answers interested my correspondent.

I gotcha. Thanks for clearing that up for me. Ever since that poll I was always curious. I think I may have come across Pilgim's Progress at some point in life but I'll look it up and re-read it just to make sure.

Thanks
David

Hi. Pedant here again. "Pilgrim's Progress" is by Jonathan Swift (see signature line below) - a very famous story. I think you are referring to "Pilgrims' Progress" by Neph - a very different story.

The difference that the placing of an apostrophe makes!

Pedant out.

Not to mention 'The Pilgrim's Progress' by John Bunyan.
Pedant out.

I am now in the slough of despond. I put an apostrophe in the wrong place.

... surely 'slough' should have a capital 'S' (as in 'Come friendly bombs and fall on Slough; it isn't fit for humans now .....)?Cool

I thought of that, but then "despond" needed a capital "d". Consistency in all things!
