To be there and yet looked past as not there at all.....
I guess it's to be expected..... It always ends up like this..... I don't know why I try... hell I don't know why I ever made the effort to begin with... I should have just finished what I started that day and have done with it.... Im a sorry I listened and more sorry I failed.
Life is great for me... Most of the time... But then I meet people online... Very few are real friends... Many say they are but know nothing of what it means... Some say they are, but are so shallow...

Perhaps this is an occasion when you need to be the one who makes contact.
Friendship takes constant work. It is a contract of sorts that is renewed daily.

Now Cossie, you know good and well that the blue shirt would clash with my eyes. Deff the black shirt makes everything stand out.

As long as the blue was different enough from the color of your eyes it wouldn't clash. Perhaps a navy or a sky ? Although black is a good choice, white ? They're so hard to keep clean.

Hey, one of my favorite shirts is sky blue. It is a bit faded, so it's not a bright sky blue but I think the color is just fine. It goes great with jeans and doesn't wash out my skin. All in all I think "sky" is more than an acceptable color of blue. Also, when I said navy I actually meant dark blue, not quite as dark as navy but darker then plain 'ole blue.

Btw - you can choose clothing to reinforce your eye colour; it doen't necessarily clash. I mean, I've worn muddy brown T-shirts all my life!

If you get too cocky Cossie, Ill demand a rematch.
I just gotta ask. n where does the name Cossie come from? Is it short for another name? If its none of my business just tell me to buzz off.

This is starting to look alarmingly familiar - when my own brats used to think that they were out of reach, or when my students seem to believe that, thanks to my age, I cannot hear what they are saying ...
Don't you think, Cossie?

... and don't let the promotion go to your head!
Being charming, refined and sophisticated, and generally wonderful in every way, I couldn't contemplate being so impolite as to start a post by telling you to buzz off, so I'll answer your question.
When I first came to this site, more than five years ago, almost all the posters seemed to use pseudonyms; even Timmy posted as 'Only me from Across the Sea' back in those medieval days. So, as I was a new boy, I thought I'd better do the same. Being Scottish, and having an inclination to ponder on the ways of the world (especially when I should have been working!) I came up with the name 'L'Ecossais Pensif', which is simply 'the thoughtful Scotsman' in French. Don't ask me why I chose to use French - I was probably just trying to be clever! Anyway, after posting a few times I started to shorten the fancy title to 'Cossie', and I've been Cossie ever since. And before anyone asks, my real name is John!
So that's the story. NOW you can buzz off, Brat!!!!

I appriciate your not being rude. Ok, Im scooting to the left. um, lets keep a proper distance, dont want anybody thinking were flerting. ;-D
Now I dont have to beat my brain up trying to figure out your name. I think my great Grandfather (the minister) was Scottish. His last name was Davenport. I think someone said it was Scottish. Course my great Grandmothers maden name was Treywick (I think thats Irish). My name, I Have no idea.
Ok that was a good sunday morning ramble.

.... I looked up the two names you mentioned in the Oxford Dictionary of Surnames.
Davenport has two origins. Most families with the name originated from a place of that name in the English County of Cheshire, on the border of North Wales. In some cases, however, it's the English spelling of the Irish Gaelic name 'O'Donndubhartaigh', which apparently means 'descendant of someone nicknamed the brown black nobleman.' No wonder the English felt the need to change the spelling!
Treywick doesn't appear in the dictionary, but of the 46 names beginning with 'Tre-' which do appear, 31 originate from the English County of Cornwall. There was separate Cornish language (similar to Welsh), which didn't die out until about 250 years ago, and in that language 'Tre-' meant homestead; there are hundreds of places in Cornwall with names beginning with 'Tre-'. Only a couple of the 'Tre-' names - Treacy and Trevor - at Irish.
Of course, in these crowded islands people moved about a bit, so just because a name originated in England doesn't mean that there were no families of that name living in Scotland - after all, really discerning people have always had a preference for Scotland!
