A "famous gay person" can not be very famous or even famous at all if one has to search for him/her.
Therefore there must not be any more famous gay persons.
Life is great for me... Most of the time... But then I meet people online... Very few are real friends... Many say they are but know nothing of what it means... Some say they are, but are so shallow...

There is a disconnect there.
They may be famous to one perosn or grouping but not to another. Fame is not global, as we have seen.

That doesn't follow at all.
Why can't you know of a famous person without knowing they are gay? Isn't that precisely what we're aiming for -- that gay people are "normal people" and their sexuality is irrelevant to their role in society? So even if we assume that they have never kept their sexuality hidden (and it would of course be rude to make allegations about people who have never made a pronouncement on their sexuality) it might take a little searching to discover that they are gay.
Yes, maybe they are not famous for being gay but that doesn't stop them being a famous gay person.
Anyway, for the record, I can personally think of several people I could have used, but they are so obvious that it wouldn't present any sort of challenge. But I'm ready to use them if I can't come up with anyone else next time it's my turn.

Am I going mad or are half of the more recent ones missing?
Jaye DAVIDSON, former British actor (admittedly really only a one-hit wonder)
John CURRY, British figure skater
Ivor NOVELLO [real name David Ivor DAVIES], British actor, songwriter and playwright
Hans Christian ANDERSON, Danish author and poet
I've only gone as far back as the beginning of January so I'm not sure if there are any others missed out.
