I have never counted you out and aint never gonna. he was born in 1937. he was also a gay activist. ill make this even better, he was a decathlon athlete.

I couldn't find that photograph, so I can't be absolutely certain, but it sounds like

Waddell, Dr. Tom (1937-1987)

who was indeed a doctor, a gymnast, represented the US in decathlon in the 1968 Olympic Games, gay, and founded the Gay Games (whatever they are).

Am I right?
