Hearing of the recent report suggestion that circumcision protects women against cervical cancer led me to research the net. I found these articles.

One of the articles shows very clearly what we lose when we are cut. One shows the HUGE risks from ritual circumcision as a manhood rite.

I really do not see why I should be circumcised in case I am promiscuous and give a woman cervical cancer. That is quite apart from the fact that I am gay!

There is no justification for it.

Isn't it strange how if a man so much as looks at a boy, society brands him a gay child molesting pedophile (that man in Canada that Darren brought up in the "Update on Me" thread is a good example); and yet society sees it as being perfectly civilized to inflict such contemptible torture on those even more vulnerable and unprotected, all in the name of "tradtion" or "religion".

When it comes right down to it, which is really the more heinous crime?

It's about as barbaric as you can get.

Particularly for the church, which is in little danger of being disputed on a huge scale because of the sheer amount of knuckledragging minions they enslave.

In other words, people are sent to prison for as much as a fleeting glance, meanwhile the church gets away with widespread mass mutilation on helpless babies.

Ron's right, it is barbaric. And pointless as well. I wonder how it all started? I think it was used as a racial divider even by Jesus. If I had faith any more, now would be the time to question it.

Nothin' to see here, officer.

In some european countries it is illegal to remove any body part from a house pet. Docking tails and croping ears from dogs are no longer allowed. Would it not be nice if we had such laws to protect babies from being robbed as well.

I live in North America, where this practice is more common. I have no idea why, and we can't even blame the church! A friend of my wife's had her kid circumsized just so his peepee would look the same as dad's. They chopped off their son's foreskin just so to prevent them from having to explain something to their child. Pretty stupid in my opinion. She did say however that she would never do it again and the whole experience was pretty horible.

Thus a few thoughts....

I knew Dr Edell (talk show host) would rip into this one. Dr. Edel is pro-intact syndicated talk show host in San Francisco. Got several of us into restoring in the first place.

Only heard part of it but the study was done in the PHILLIPINES and similar countries was was conducted on permiscuios (sp?) males and females. It had nothing to do with the United States yet it was a United States Medical that reported it and sorta forgot to leave that information out.

Dr. Edell went on to say that the incident's of cervical cancer in Isreal are equal to cases in U.S. and women in Isreal only have sex with circumsized men.

If you haven't heard of Dr. Edel go to healthcentral.com. The is place at his site were you can check to see what cities he is broadcast and at what time, he is well worth listening to.
