Greetings
It seems that there are 2 types of people in the world: People who divide the world up into groups, and those that don't. I, of course, am a member of the latter group.
Now that having been said (Deeej can we come up with a Safe Place notions for a few expressions that are a little more complex than 'lol'? This would be my first nominee)
nothatbesd, my question is: In your flesh and blood friendships do you make friends with people BECAUSE of things? Or do you make friends with people DESPITE things? Do you think that one approach offers advantages over the other, or is it moot?
If you have to sit on the fence and say ‘Both’, then which are you more likely to be your personal style.

I suppose my ventures into friendship are based upon respect - and respect can just as easily be based opon disagreement as upon agreement.
For a' that an' a' that,
It's comin' yet for a' that,
That man tae man, the worrld o'er
Shall brithers be, for a' that.

I tend to make friends with anyone that makes friends with me. Mostly because of a slight self-esteem issue, I don't normally pursue people. But, if someone wants to be friends with me, I'm happy to be friends with them. I tend to like everyone.
It's always the old to lead us to the war
It's always the young to fall
Now look at all we've won with the sabre and the gun
Tell me is it worth it all

I hope you laughed - it was my intent.
The other way to split the world is those who like cooked carrots and those that don't. Not quite as good.

I fear we have to subdivide that cooked carrots and the raw carrots groups, and add a group of those who dislike carrots in any form!
Laughed? I nearly bought a round of drinks!
