It is now heading worldwide on my rather eccentric mailing list systems. Email says:

From It's Only Me from Across the Sea at http://www.iomfats.org:

IN an article quoted at http://www.abcnews.go.com/sections/us/DailyNews/judge_gays020412.html# it says that 'A Mississippi judge has come under fire from gay rights groups after he wrote a letter to a local newspaper saying that gays and lesbians "should be put in some type of mental institute" rather than be given the right to marry.'

OK, he has a right to his opinion, and a right to say it out loud. But so have we. By the way Isn't "Connie" a girl's name? Is that his beef? Named after a girl so hates gays?

LAMBDA's press release is here http://www.lambdalegal.org/cgi-bin/iowa/documents/record?record=1030

IN case anyone reaodng this has guilt induced by the bible, they might wish to check out http://www.truluck.com/

Now usually I have contact emails and all sorts of places for you to deluge people with complaints about the person concerned. This time I think a simple message of support to LAMBDA would be really cool

Woudl someone do me a favour and post this on other messageboards that I am not welcome on?

I have come accross two other Connies from that part of the world. It must be some SOUTHERN name. It took me a while to get used to (as a guys name), but most cultures have some strange names.

Isn't "Connie" as a "male" name a diminutive of the name "Conrad" (as I recall, that was the case with Timothy Hutton's character in that extraordinary film "Ordinary People"); and isn't "Connie" as a "female" name a diminutive of the name "Constance" (I can't immediately come up with any example for that).

Having said that, though, can't you hear the taunting jeers of "Connie, Connie" this poor judge had to endure from his school mates when he was a wee lad? As my dad would say, "My arse bleeds purple piss for him!
