Guess what?! I bought a bike yestarday!!! It was very exciting. The last time I bought my own bike I was 7. It was amazing. It's bright red and vey spiffy looking. Plus it actually fits me. Not saying I'm short or anything... but ya know...

Thats the bike. Is this how people feel after buying a car lol?

Oh, great!

There's something so much more exhilarating about riding a bike than driving a car, I always think. I'd take out my bike much more than I do, if it were not for the fact that it's usually cold or raining over here. (Or I'm feeling lazy.)

It is indeed just the feeling you get after buying a car.

Good grief, an American who works in Celsius as well as Fahrenheit! Bravo! (Unless you're being sarcastic, of course...)

I'm lucky to be able to work in both. Fahrenheit because of swimming pool temperatures (honestly: anything less than 70 is freezing, 70-80 is okay, 80+ is nicely warm, 90+ is really too hot), and Celsius because that's what we had drummed into us in school.

I'm looking forward to summer. English winters are just gloomy. Even if they are apparently the driest for 85 years. At the moment it's mild but wet.

Now I read that comment again, I'm not quite sure why I drew attention to the fact that you were using Centigrade, except that it surprised me. I didn't mean to sound patronising, and I'm sorry if I did. I respect you very much, Andy.

I seem to have made a few odd or unjustified comments on this board these last few days -- I suppose it's slightly inevitable as I've posted so many times, without, perhaps, thinking too much about my posts' effects on others. I'm sorry if I offended anyone (especially Cossie -- sorry, Cossie, about last night!).

Yes, but 49 degrees Fahrenheit is not warm at all. The highest temperature in London today was 14 degrees C, which is 57.2 degrees F, according to the BBC. And it was not hot today. So "soo hot" does not make sense. Whereas 49 degrees C works, assuming it's a slight exaggeration.

Andy, can you clear this up? Smile

49 degrees Farenheit is hot? Where do you live? The North Pole?

Or was that whoosh the sound of sarcasm flying over my head?

... and noted the apology. Not enough. It's 49 years in Siberia for you, my lad - until you learn humility and reverence for your elders and betters!

Seriously, my skin is thicker than the average pachyderm, but watching what you are actually saying is, in the words of Sellar and Yeatman, a GOOD thing! You have occasionally ruffled feathers in the past!

Hi andy,

yea! that's sweet! how much did it costya??

this world would be a better place if we could all park our cars & ride bikes again!!

I've adopted a few unwanted bikes & look forward to getting the nicest one in going shape again. I've always loved riding bikes & my town is small enough I can go about everywhere in town by bike!!

motor vehicles are mainly a pain, but necessary now the way the usa is set up. i'd even considered working from a horse drawn cart rather than service truck. In the old days they had all they needed & time with the family too.

so they really are just a convenience that has become a necessity... like computers...
