Hey guys,
I read a lot of the comments you were making below about criticising stories on the site. I don't feel qualified to make too many comments on the way a story is written as I have almost no skills in that area. Believe me, when I was in school my themes would serve as absolute proof of that statement. I have always had admiration for anyone who could put together a really good story. Of course when I read stories here and on Nifty I can tell you whether I think a story is well written or whether I think it has some problems, but I dont have the skills to tell anyone how to fix it.
I stand in awe of writers and especially someone who can make a statue. I made a trip to the Crazy Horse Memorial in South Dakota and while I was there admiring that immense work I also visited the gift shop. Inside was this beautiful full-sized statue of an indian girl. I was impressed with it as it was smoothly polished and was almost like seeing a real indian girl standing there. I remarked to the late-sculpter's wife (who ran the store) that it must have taken him years to make such a thing of beauty and she told me he did it in just a few weeks. I couldnt even draw a reasonable stick figure in two days!
I respect that ability in people who are able to create works of art; and of course writting is a form of art isnt it? I always wished I could have some of that ability, but my papers rarely made better than a "C". I have much to tell but aside from being a gabby old geezer, no way to tell it. Now if one of you has some sort of magic wand, just wave it over here.

There's no quick fix I guess. Those of us that do, just do our best to make it readable. Some will like what you've written, others won't.
But it's good to know that there are people out there who if not talented with the skill of writing or anything else for that matter, have the skill of appreciation. Without those people, we'd do better to sit and throw peas at the moon.
