The pictures of the jacaranda tree that I posted last week were taken looking east. In the same street, looking west, is a tree of a different kind. Its branches completely cover the road, affording very welcome shade in the summer. In the autumn/winter it drops an enormous amount of berries on the sidewalk, sometimes making it slippery.
Here are two pictures of the tree.
Does anyone have any idea what its name is?

The paradox has often been noted that the United States, founded in secularism, is now the most religiose country in Christendom, while England, with an established church headed by its constitutional monarch, is among the least. (Richard Dawkins, 2006)

It's name is Arnold.
Life is great for me... Most of the time... But then I meet people online... Very few are real friends... Many say they are but know nothing of what it means... Some say they are, but are so shallow...

Oh, silly me.
It was a different tree. I thought you asked what the name of the Jacaranda tree was. Please feel free to patronise me, JFR.

.... are you sure it isn't a Bush?
Seriously, though, it's almost impossible to identify without a picture of a leaf - and if its range is limited to the Eastern Mediterranean it probably isn't in my Tree Book!
For a' that an' a' that,
It's comin' yet for a' that,
That man tae man, the worrld o'er
Shall brithers be, for a' that.
