I have read through this site, and read all the stuff on aids but it didn;t really clear up a question for me.

Can you get aids, if the person giving you a head job has aids ?

Technically you can, though it is a low probability.

The glans is mucous membrane, not skin, and is thus capable of absorbing infective agents without necessarily having an open injury on it. However you wouild have to have very bad luck to be given a head job by a person with bleeding gums and have the infective agent survive the hostile enviornment of their mouth.

By the way AIDS per se is not infective. The thoughts are that the HIV infectiove agent passes and that in turn tends to lead to AIDS after a varying period. Other thoughts are that HIV creates an environment in which AIDS can start.

It is wise to use a flavoured condom when giving or being given head. That does not mean we DO what is wise, but the advice is still good.

courtesy Ed, the talking pink duck. Tons of links at his aidsnewsarchive.com site, but sometimes TOO much info.

Quick tips regarding this from "whatudo" include avoid "pokey" food like corn chips (toasted sandwiches always mess up MY mouth) and avoid brushing and flossing beforehand (use mouthwash instead) to avoid any open sores or bleeding at all in the mouth. Sounded to me like if both partners are free of any injury/bleeding, this would be pretty safe, but please do read up a bit.

And be sure to let us know how your experiment goes!

Here I am incoherently posting in the wee hours again. Whatudo also had a quick list of WHICH partner was at risk for which activity if I recall.

I am not planning on going out and getting some head.........It is just something that I have been pondering about lately, and I thought this would be the perfect place to find out =)

When I was younger, getting aids scared the heck out of me. In fact, it is part of the reason why I am married now. It does not scare me anymore because I am monogomous and I know more about the disease. You got to know what the risks are, and these questions are good to ask. What Tim said is consistent with what I have read as well.

There are some postings on bgay.com (Dear Max). His advice on some issues is off IMHO, but for health issues he is well informed (see http://www.bgay.com/wellness/max/) You may need to browse through the archives to find his posting on aids and blow jobs. It is a good site anyway.

Cheers,

Darren

HIV Risk Factors

Adam has been here, but you guys may not have, so do have a look.

The most important thing is to be knowledgeable, be aware of the precations to take, have a supply of relevant condoms and appropriate lube readily available, and to decide for yourself what risk you choose to take if CLEAR.

If HIV+ and you knowingly have unproteced sex with an HIV Clear person I feel that wrath should descend on your head.

You should also be aware of "Ordinary" STIs. Hepatitis claims more lives than HIV/AIDS and is easier to catch. At the very least we shoudl be immunised as a matter of course against Hep A and Hep B. C is regrettably not immunisable against. Yet.

The facts on these charts have been checked by medically qualified people who specialise in the field of Sexually Transmitted Diseases.

There are any number of variables to your question, I will be glad to try to help with an answer. I work at a HIV/AIDS clinic in South Carolina, so get in touch if you want to pursue this. Most Sincerely, John http://www.burnsideclinic.com
