Need to watch when you hit that "return" key...

Need some info on the following net paper:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/index.jhtml

Mostly on how they stand politically. whether they are right or left wing or somewhere in the middle.
they have a lot of info on the site, but the stories seem a bit one-sided.

Thanks,
ed (E.J.)

They are right wing. Not US Republican, but UK Conservative.

Market position is respected, only print the truth.

Readership is "Middle England". Tend to be over 25

Owned by "The Barclay Brothers" (started out in catering!)

Acts as a cash generation engine behind the portal of a newspaper and an online presence.

I prefer triping to typing. I make loads of trypos, though

I agree with what Timmy says insofar as the 'Daily Telegraph' is regarded as a 'quality paper'. As he says, it is right wing, and its stories tell the truth, but it may be the truth according to the Conservative Party.

If you are really seeking balance, it might be as well to look at the other major UK 'quality' papers before making a choice; they are 'The Times' (right wing), 'The Independent' (unpredictable!) and 'The Guardian' (left of centre). Googling the names will lead you to the relevant websites.

There has been no 'quality' left-wing daily since the demise of the 'Daily Herald' almost half a century ago.

Incidentally, 'The Guardian' was originally 'The Manchester Guardian'; when it went national and began to print in London several years ago, it was widely referred to as 'The Grauniad', because it contained more trypos than even Timmy could muster in an average paragraph! It's improved a lot since then!

For a' that an' a' that,
It's comin' yet for a' that,
That man tae man, the worrld o'er
Shall brithers be, for a' that.

I was speaking of market position Smile

As it said on the wall of the library of the University of Birmingham in letters a yard high that they could not clean off in the 1970s:

"Seek truth from facts to serve the people"
