"Beautiful" and "sexy" raised a thought. Look at
.
He is not, as I have said, beautiful, though he is also not ugly. And only in life can you see, or could you see when I knew him, what made him so mouth wateringly sexy and hot.
But what is it, really, that defines the differences and similarities between Beauty and Sexiness?
Take two actresses/TV people:

Ulrika Jonsson. A beautiful Scandewegain blonde whose features are regualr,
and who has beauty but not sexiness.

Sandra Bullock who is by no means ugly,
but whose face is not a classic beauty,
but who is most assuredly sexy.
What is it that makes one sexy and the other not, even in a picture?

Hmm.
Ulrika Jonsson's a bit old and toothy. In the photograph, she looks a touch self-conscious. Also, blonde women don't do much for me. Can't say much more than that, because I've never examined her very closely (perhaps because she's not sexy).
On the other hand, Sandra Bullock looks more pensieve, more vulnerable. Less self-conscious, even if that's an illusion (she's evidently been very carefully posed). Also, she looks younger, and her skin is much clearer. Plus she's a brunette, my personal preference.
(In actual fact, Sandra is 3 years older than Ulrika. But she looks much younger in that picture -- was it really a fair comparison? )
Those are all superficial things, and they don't take into account behaviour, which is often the most sexy thing about a person. But, with celebrities, unless we actually know them in real life, how they are marketed to the public takes its place. And that filters back to how they are presented visually, and thence how they are judged by the public in terms of sexiness/beauty.
I wonder if apparent vulnerability is a big factor in sexiness?

Are you sure celebrities have souls?

Some actors and actresses do have soul. I dont know too many personally (actually I dont know any). How many people have watched "As Time Goes By" the actress Madam Julie Dent (I think thats right) she is not a stunning beauty, but she is so cute. If you look real close at her eyes they sparkle and they are full of life. Not to mention that she is a fantastic actress.

He would not have overly been to my taste......
I would have done him and convinced him to reciprocate as a matter of course.....
But he would have been listed as a conquest filed to the reject pile....
The females...... Well they do have a place in the world...... They are noticed of course.... but that is about as far as it goes......
As a group, in general, I guess there are uses for them..... cleaning and such...... but thats about it......
Life is great for me... Most of the time... But then I meet people online... Very few are real friends... Many say they are but know nothing of what it means... Some say they are, but are so shallow...

>Madam Julie Dent (I think thats right)
It's Dame Judi Dench.
Yes, Judi Dench is one of Britain's best-loved and most charismatic actresses. I wouldn't have called her "cute", but she would indeed be -- from everything one hears about her -- the sort of lady that would make a wonderful grandmother, or long-term partner, or, er, head of MI6. She is not beautiful, but that doesn't matter in the slightest.
She is not, of course, a Hollywood star, despite her Oscar, which might be the reason she has retained her soul -- she is foremost a stage actress, I believe, though one that is well-known through her television and film work.

Seriously, I don't think this is an easy question. It's easy to be trite and superficial, but what matters is what generates a reaction in your groin. And I'm NEVER going to criticise anyone whose reaction is different from mine. If we seek tolerance, we should exhibit tolerance.

I suspect he would have done you first Or so he acted.
But that was not my point. It is that a really truly sexy, flirtatious, exciting person need not also be classicly beautiful. And that they appear to be "more beuatiful" (mixing my adjectives here) that the classic beauty with none of the attributes.

I can tolerate beauty with the best of them And sexiness. I'm not sure what you mean, though, by "tolerance" in this context?

... I was simply underlining the fact that there CANNOT be a definitive answer to your original question, because perceptions of both beauty and sexiness differ from person to person - it's a classic example of 'Whatever floats your boat'. Hence it would be wrong to criticise anyone else's perception just because it differed from my own.

I take that point. For example I found at school certain boys to be beautiful as did others, but we differed over other boys. and yes, we could discuss it, in a very odd way.
Mainly, though, we agreed on who was sexy.
In general we agreed more than we differed.
Suely that means there is a common thread?

I go along with Timmy. At school there were some generally acknowledged great looking boys, but on the other hand I was on occasions attracted to a 'bit of rough'. There was one such boy called Nick Carter, I remember.
