Global warming.

Do you think that global warming is now a way of increasing taxes or is it a real problem as some governments are saying.
Could it be that the world is doing what it has always done and that is to heal itself by turning some countries into deserts, the Grand Canyon used to be at the bottom of the sea, all kinds of fosel forms have been found up mountains etc.
The one sure thing is that as man destroys parts they shut down heal and reappear although it could be a few thousand years time.
In the u.k./south east they have a water shortage the government are saying we do not get the rain fall that we should get in the winter, yes but if you keep building thousands more houses all these houses use water, so the situation will only get worse.
So this is all down to global warming, so what happens next they put the price of water up, ban a desalination plant for London and so on.
The u.k. is an island the sea has very little if any fish in it so I’m sure they would not mind if we used it to wash with as it will already be warm due to GLOBAL WARMING.
I have had a little joke but would like your views.

Charlie, I think that Global Warming has been presented differently in the US and UK press.

There's no doubt that the world changes in natural cycles, and we may be approaching another 'World Summer'. Nevertheless, the physics and chemistry of carbon dioxide release demonstrate very clearly that carbon dioxide emissions do not escape the Earth's gravity, and that the greenhouse effect is therefore absolutely real. So, even if a natural cycle is playing a part, carbon dioxide emissions are exacerbating the problem.

I would therefore argue that we owe our children and descendants a duty of care which may well impinge on our own convenience. From this side of the Atlantic, it seems that GWB cares more for profitability than for moral integrity.

I think that I was convinced by a family holiday to Austria a few years ago. We went to visit the Grossglockner Glacier. I had been there with my Scout Group in 1967, and in the thirty-or-so year interval the tongue of the glacier had receded by over a mile, and the surface at the principal viewing point was about forty feet below the level on my previous visit. That alone represents multi-millions of gallons of water released into the seas. It shocked me, and the films I have seen since, documenting glacial regression in Alaska and Greenland - as well as in the Antarctic - shock me even more.

Maybe we can't control global temperature changes, but we can certainly avoid aggravating the problem - and projecting the present rate of change - the losers will be our grandchildren, if not our children.

For a' that an' a' that,
It's comin' yet for a' that,
That man tae man, the worrld o'er
Shall brithers be, for a' that.
