Tell me about it. I'm in the sameboat. The only bad part is my parents don't approve of gay's. They think it is an illness. And have voiced there oppions on the subject many of times when there is something going on. They have know idea how much that hurts me. But then again they don't know I'm gay. and won't know untill after, I'm done with collage.
That they pay for. I know if I tell them they will try to make me get "help". So when I am done with school F them.>Sad

So say what you want

You've gotta mean it when you say what you want

And everybody's on your mind

If you don't mind me asking. How did your parents find out that your gay. And how did they react.

If you don't mind.

Oh my grandfather would shit a brick if he knew. LOL

Hi Josh,

By starting a conversation with, 'Let's say you were gay' your mother presumably had a pretty fair idea already. Would that have been because you consciously dropped hints, or because of something you did or said?

None of my friends had any idea that I was gay. The only one who seems to have had an idea was Timmy (so he says), and I never knew him properly until a couple of years ago, which was far later than it should have been.

I've had various rather stilted conversations with my parents. I think I've made it fairly clear I'm not straight. I suspect they still think of me as asexual, though, 'cos I've never shown any interest in either girls or boys in front of them.

It's not the Christians as a whole who demonise gays - just some so-called Christian Churches with leaders who are intellectually challenged!

I'm no longer a Christian, but I don't think that there's anything incompatible between being gay and believing in God. What's so sad is the stupid self-righteousness of those who lack the ability and intelligence to understand the teachings of Jesus.

And don't underestimate the problems Brian has to cope with - down in Tennessee barbecued gay steaks are a favourite on 4 July!

It's a big tragedy of US life, but Churches which pretend to support 'family values' do exactly the opposite. It's so sad that so many teens are obliged to keep their orientation secret until they reach 18, and then have little option but to say 'fuck you' to their parents.

There are so many issues which are so much more important than attacking someone because of their sexual orientation. I don't - ever - underestimate the problems of those who are under 18, but when you reach that magic age, try to remember that what YOU wanted was tolerance and understanding. If you don't try to show that tolerance and understanding to others, your experience has taught you nothing.

For a' that an' a' that,
It's comin' yet for a' that,
That man tae man, the worrld o'er
Shall brithers be, for a' that.

Yeah it is really tragic that so many kids go thru their teenage years with fear of discovery hounding them. I cannot understand how you can say you try to live a life that uses Christ as an example yet would be hateful towards anyone. Yes, and it is important to remember what it is like to withstand all that intolerance so you dont find yourself being intolerant to someone because of what they believe. It certianly is a two-edged sword.
I have been subject of some of the intolerance by gays directed against those who profess to have some kind of faith in God. I am not trying to be like a lot of those who would do bad things to others in the name of God and some kind of religion.
I stayed away from my church for a long time, but it was not because they were intolerant towards gays. I just didnt go along with the idea that God was making everything happen according to some great plan of His. When I learned aobut the concept of free will and what that meant to me as someone who wanted to believe in God, I felt that I then knew what Christ was trying to say to everyone. I still didnt reconcile every way my own church approached things but I felt ok with going into it again. I wanted to affirm that I did believe and take communion again, but I have my own way of thinking about what my faith means to me.
So you should never judge everyone with what some few individuals may do to someone in the name of religion. Tolerance should work both ways. I mostly just want to be left alone if someone figures out that I am gay.
