Life is great for me... Most of the time... But then I meet people online... Very few are real friends... Many say they are but know nothing of what it means... Some say they are, but are so shallow...

How many of you play video games?
What systems do you use?
The reason I ask this is because Kevy bought a game for me called Civilization III and it is freaking addictive....
Tell me about your game playing experiences....

I love Civilization and there are others like Orion, Ceasar,Magic,on and on. These are all called stratigy games and I think they are the best. Wait till you get to the nuclear part of Civilization. Best way is to start off samll and then keep increasing the world size.
I believe in Karma....what you give is what you get returned........

I have to say I don't play video games/computer games much. These are the only ones I can think of that I'd still want to play:
- Half-Life, Half-Life 2
- Simcity, Simcity 2000
- Microsoft Flight Simulator 5, 98
- Flight Unlimited 2, 3
- Command and Conquer: Red Alert
With the exception of Half-Life 2, they are all pretty antiquated. Occasionally I buy very cheap games on "3 for £10" (old, end-of-line classics, usually) at a local computer store, play them for a bit, then discard them.
I don't like first-person-shooters very much, but I thought Half-Life 2 was excellent. Very good atmosphere, excellent sound, excellent lighting, excellent art/production design, passable and macabre story (non-episodic). In other words, I liked it because it was like an interactive movie. I can't think of any other FPSs worth playing: I think it must be one of a kind, unfortunately.
Aside from those, I'm a fan of "interactive fiction":

Don't be fooled -- this isn't just "get object; n; drop object"-type stuff; some of the stories are supberbly crafted, really like interactive novels, and have the added bonus that you have a feeling of genuine immersion -- you can do almost anything within reason; better (if you have a good imagination) than linear FPSes like Half-Life. Douglas Adams, of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy fame, wrote two of the things; many more have been written by talented amateurs.

With the exception of interactive fiction, those are all PC games -- I have never had a console. Standard interactive fiction (especially Infocom/Inform fiction) can be played on nearly anything: Windows, Linux, Mac OS, UNIX, Risc OS, DOS, etc.
Which reminds me: there were a few fun games for Risc OS, as well. No amazing ones, though. Marsquake, Starfighter 3000, Lemmings, SuperFE, DJ-TRON.
