Let's take it as read that Jason must have a 30 hour per week job and must also pass college well. How can we help him? What advice can those who have worked their way through college give to help him cope with the issues and realx enough to do well?

Don't fight it. It wastes energy and causes (yet more) stress.

Alternatively, fight it if (and only if) you have a reasonable and practical alternative solution.

I haven't worked my way through college yet, though, so others' advice is probably more useful.

Well, one way is to concentrate on the studies and the job and alot less on romance and internet distractions.....

Another way is to find a job paying $500.00 an hour.....

it's very, VERY difficult to balance full time college, and full time work (try adding a pre-teen to raise, in that mix!!! that'll be where i am at, next year -- i took 2 years off school to just work), and unfortunately i'm not sure of what all i could offer that would help.. but i definitely can empathise with the situation...

jason, all i can really say is balance time. organise, make lists, do what you have to do, to make time for all things to be done. it'll be rough going at first, but you'll eventually fall into a mode, and always remember that college WILL eventually be over; that this is just temporary, but necessary. you are doing this to better yourself, and your life, and sometimes repeating that in your head like a mantra is the only way to get through the rough times.

you will lose sleep, and you might lose contact with those that you love and care for.. but sometimes, social things do have to take a back seat to education and job, if you want to get through the former, and better your place in the latter.

good luck, okay? i know this was no help at all... but i at least want you to know, that i understand. *hug*

I was making about that plus perks when I was in college....

The perks included housing, travel, cars, clothes, fine dining among others....

It all has to do with what a person is willing to do to get things done....

For me it was a means to an end.... When I got what I wanted out of it I got out of it....

Not to seem glib about it but I don't think you, personaly would be suited for the work, although judging from your photo you would come at a premium....Cool

Sometimes it is better to become financially emancipated before trying your hand at higher education. University isn't the be-all and end-all it is made out to be. Sometimes financial freedom and real-world education gets you further ahead in life.

I can only think of one profession (apart, perhaps, from world-class surgeon, lawyer, CEO, established Hollywood actor and wife of Tony Blair, none of which is open to a young person) that might routinely make that sort of money.

Nope... don't think it's for me. Unless, of course, I could use my lighting and cinematography skills in some way.

I would think that they could come in very handy.

Worth considering... perhaps.

I don't think you're elected to the BSC for that sort of film. Though, of course, if you can find a well-known director to direct it, then it's "art" and anything goes.
