for those of you in the US (i'm not sure this kind of commercial ever aired outside the US) maybe you remember the kool-aid man...
this is how i spent the last 5 minutes at work, before all hell broke loose, turning my 12 hours into 17. i'd then come back into the lab, running from ER with a fist full of vials, hollaring, "OH YEAH! OH YEAH!" to which my tech would reply, "i'm gonna beat you with a toaster!"
here, have a look. i literally -- LITERALLY -- spit tea out all over the floor the first time i viewed it.

As a non-USian, I'm afraid I don't even know what Kool-Aid is. Could anyone enlighten me?

It is a powdered immitation fruit flavored drink.
It is absolutly nasty.....
Although I do like the pink lemonade flavor as long as it is enhanced with a generous amount of sloe gin and vodka.....
Life is great for me... Most of the time... But then I meet people online... Very few are real friends... Many say they are but know nothing of what it means... Some say they are, but are so shallow...

In the Navy when we were at sea we would run out of milk after three days or so. From that point on we were served Cool Aid to drink breakfast lunch and dinner.

Thanks, Marc.
There seem to be a number of American brands that we Europeans hear of periodically (via American culture, film, TV, etc.) but we are not familiar with them.
E.g. Kool-Aid, Twinkies, Fig Newtons (though I know what they are now as we had a discussion about them a while back), Jell-O, Cheetos.
I'm resisting the urge to make a joke about American religion.

Twinkies........ http://twinkies.com/
It has been said that the recipe for twinkies was found in a Mayan tomb... There was also found a sample of the fins confection which was carbon dated to 2300 years before christ..... With some 3 glasses of milk it was promptly consumed by the team of archiologists.... Some say they survived to tell the tale.... Some dispute it.....
Fig newtons..... http://www.nabiscoworld.com/newtons/
Isaic Newton's crazy uncle Fig invented this yummy snack while on sabatical in Egypt..... It is said that he was sitting under a fig tree and the idea just hit him...... Along with a clump of figs....
The rest is history....
Jell-o.......... http://www.kraftfoods.com/jello/
Well, there's always room for jell-o.... What more needs be said.....
Cheetos........ http://www.cheetos.com/home.php
The direct result of drinking too much and eating far too much cheese all while stirring a big pot of hot grease.......
They taste as nasty as they sound.....
