I hate getting sick it seems to come at the worts time. long storie short had two employees quit my boss and sales under me so I moved up to my boss position and now need to hire threes sales and one lead. so I am the only one in my department. I am sick and going to school and working almost 60 hours last week and looks to be the same this week.

Despite it being very tempting to rush, take your time when hiring, and do not hire "people just like you". Aim for ones who are promotable and who make your ROLE look efficient and effective.

It's too easy to make a bad hiring, and firing people is no fun.

Hi Jason,

I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling well. It sounds to me as if you have far too much on your plate. It is hardly surprising you are depressed and unhappy.

It's one thing to work and go to college simultaneously. But to take on a management position is only worth it (i) if you absolutely want to do it and can cope with the workload, and (ii) they are paying you a significant amount for it. If either of these is not the case, then perhaps you ought to consider finding something else.

Changing the status quo is always difficult -- you can also make the decision to stick with it, but that would mean that you would need to accept your position and stop fighting it.

Well, it is not supposed to mean anything. It means that you should hire good people because firing bad ones is hard emotionally. It also wastes your timne much more than taking time over the hiring process.

Well, I'm glad I don't work where you work. It sounds an unpleasant place if that happens. Being "encouraged to quit" is not very funny when you are the victim.
