Some may remember that I encouraged all UK residents in July last year to fill in the Sigma "Gay Mens Sex Survey", which is used extensively by Health Authorities and Local Government when planning services to the LGBTQQ community.

The initial key data reports have been published, broken down by region, on http://www.sigmaresearch.org.uk/reportsdata05.html Although not representative of all gay men, the figures do probably give as good a view as can be obtained of what self-identified Gay men in the UK are actually doing - from how many of us have had no sexual partners in the past year to how many of us have experienced condom failure ... I found the London Area report fascinating reading.

There may still just be time to contribute to this years survey - I think it closes today or tomorrow. There's a link to it from the front page of metromate ( http://www.metromate.org.uk/ )

OK, I should have written "I encouraged all those of us who are UK residents ..."

Put my inexcusable lapse from acceptable English usage down to being de-mob happy: I'm off tomorrow for a few days holoiday on a boat on the Norfolk Broads.

... though the sample size in my corner of the world was too small to justify any firm conclusions.

We do very much need reliable statistical evidence to support campaign issues; i hope the survey can expand in future years.

For a' that an' a' that,
It's comin' yet for a' that,
