Float away, into the nothingness of the open sky,
Feel a cloud, and realize that your already dead,
Some prick found on the ground at your feet,
Hustling Eearth, swallowing you up,
Beneath the whistling tears of the painful flower on your head,
Dead in silence, you float to Hell,
on a journey to bleed,
On a journey to see
How life turns you around on the inside, making your stomach turn.
Yet, despite all the pain, your happy,
Pain makes people stronger, so they say,
and that is way you are happy this day...

Hmm ... on the black side of indigo, I'd agree ...  [message #36726 is a reply to message #36722] Sun, 08 October 2006 00:57 Go to previous messageGo to next message

... but why should being strong induce happiness? I don't really think that in the physical sense it does. There's nothing wrong with moral strength (which the religious fundamentalists wrongly claim to possess!), but even then the product is so often self-righteousness, rather than happiness.

True happiness, at least as I understand it, is the reward you enjoy from trying to help others and in some small way to make the world a better place. Corny as a Kellogg's cereal, I know - but true, nevertheless. That doesn't require strenghth - just determination and commitment. You and Jay seem to be making each other pretty happy; I doubt whether strength is a big factor in that!

Gotta make it clear that this isn't a criticism of your poem - just a philosophical thought triggered by the last couple of lines!

For a' that an' a' that,
It's comin' yet for a' that,
That man tae man, the worrld o'er
Shall brithers be, for a' that.

Dark, but not without a candle. Deep, but not unknowable. Truth, and yet spoke with such gentle anguish. I sympathize, my brother.

Been a while I know since anyone's heard from me. I'm physically well, mentally alert and hope all of you are doing well.

See ya on the other side,
