I am disgusted enough to consider closing this board if judgemental behaviour continues.
Think well.

Tim, you must not close the board.
It's as simple as that.
People make mistakes sometimes, at times we make snap judgements (especially concerning issues that lie close to our hearts, like the percieved need to protect young people). It's part of being human - unfortunately. I'm sure you've been there too at one time or another, as have I.
So some of us spoke without knowing all the facts. It was most probably a mistake, but that can be rectified without closing down the entire board...
Thank you, Tim. We all love this place.

I am totally furious at the attitiudes spme people have displayed. Holding an attitude is one thing, but expressing it judgementally and with intolerance is quite another.
Again it is a matter of the behaviours continuing or ceasing. Having no place at all is better than having a place which creates fear to express one's own fears.
And lest any fool says "but you are censoring the board" I am not. Discussing a topic is one thing. Behaving dogmatically is quite another.
If people truly believe something to be wrong there are ways of saying it which are far better and more adult than those petulant outbursts that have made me red hot angry. I did not create this place to hurt. I know already of one perosn that has been hurt by the stupid and thoughtless "Me first and my opinion first" outbursts in another thread. No, I shall not name him. I shall not even say if he posts or lurks.

e-mailing him/her/me - whoever you feel has said something inappropriate - so we are at least aware of it? I'm not expecially good at phrasing my thoughts some times and someone may misinterpret or overreact or ? But, it would be nice to discuss and feel like we can participate even if we are not perfect. I think we should expect you, or the offended, to say so, if not in the thread, then in private? Or maybe you have?

I don't want to make this a thread per se. The matter is closed and apologies have been posted, received and accepted.

If anything I said in my posts was offensive or harsh. I didn't intend to cause pain or hurt anyone.
I have no problem with persons who tell me I am wrong or whether they believe something I've done is wrong or immoral. I don't mind discussing it with them in a respectful manner. It is when such a discussion becomes disrespectful that I would mind.
I do have a problem with those who would impose their morality upon me or upon others. Telling me you think I am wrong or have acted in an immoral fashion is one thing. Insisting that I change to conform to your beliefs is altogether different.
Tim, some of the topics discussed on this board evoke strong emotions and reactions. People are going to have opinions. Please do not close the board because they state those opinions. If you think we need it, just remind us to be civil. There is far too much good done here for this to end.
Think good thoughts,

Just like a straight guy that beats up someone for being 'Queer', judgmental behavior like this results from not enough information, or incorrect information. They need help and guidance to see things more for what they are, than what they might think they should be. I can think of no better place to help give this guidance than right here! So, let all of us excersise som patience and try to listen as well as speak. TRUST ME, we will all (including myself) be better people for it.
