.... if you spell 'stupid' as 'stuipted'! But I dont think you are, and you scored above average in the categories other than vocabulary.
I'm no sort of expert in the field, but you do seem to me to show signs of dyslexia - by which I mean that your understanding of concepts is way beyond your ability to spell and recognise the words that represent those concepts. Have you been properly assessed for dyslexia? - it has nothing whatsoever to do with intelligence.
Don't be disheartened by the results - look at the possible factors that may have influenced your performance, get advice if you can, and do your best to improve. From the sensitivity you have shown in your posts and e-mails, you are definitely NOT stupid! You may, however, have a problem - and you shouldn't be afraid to check that out.
Best of luck!
Cossie.

Are you trying to convince us or yourself?
First, IQ tests mean nothing....
Second, You can be as good at English as any other person if you choose to apply yourself.
Or Third, You can become comfortable with things the way they are... After all the world needs people to flip those burgers too....
Life is great for me... Most of the time... But then I meet people online... Very few are real friends... Many say they are but know nothing of what it means... Some say they are, but are so shallow...

IQ is about the ability to perform IQ tests. It was devalued long ago, but people cling to it as if it were important.
Dyslexia is a tough thing. My wife teaches in year one, and sees a refusal of the system to give a 5 year old help "becuase they are too young" when they are obviously underachieving in just one topic area and can see and feel that they are underachieving.
The thing with special ed, now you are an adult, is to try to drive the tutors to meet your needs, not simply to deliver the course. to meet their own needs.
You can achieve in English. Spoken words are no problem for you, it;s the written word that is a problem, both reading and writing.
It's possible that the "ADD" is a reaction to the sresses of dyslexia. It depends how it was diagnosed, because many diagnoses have been in error. "Keep the kid quiet with ritalin" has often been the case.
Yes, I'd like to see the final version of your paper

I wouldn't worry too much about the figures, Jason. IQ means very little. I always did poorly on the tests at school.
One is able to improve one's results on those tests with a little application. This is a strong indication that, as a marker of absolute intelligence, the test is irrelevant, and instead it measures only how good one is at IQ tests. The best way to prove one's intelligence is to apply oneself to achieving well in the "real world".
I do tend to agree with Marc that the easiest way to improve -- possibly as far as the test is concerned, but much more importantly, as perceived by those around you -- is to gain a stronger understanding of English. There is no magical way of improving, especially if you are dyslexic, but I do not believe that many of the most important concepts in writing -- vocabulary, forward planning and coherence of thought -- cannot nevertheless be learnt.

... let us know what happened to your paper.
I also agree with him that there's a fair chance that you were diagnosed as suffering from ADD because of your dyslexia, and that the diagnosis may therefore have been wrong.
Dyslexia is a hell of a problem to live with, but what you write on paper (or on a computer screen) isn't a reflection of your ability. You shouldn't be judged by it, any more than a kid with a deformed foot should be criticised because he doesn't shine in athletics.
The only difference is that dyslexia can usually be improved, whilst physical deformities sometimes can not. I think I probably know you as well - or perhaps better - than anyone else on the site, and I honestly think that you are a guy with potential. There's nothing wrong with your thought processes - keep fighting the dyslexia and you'll come out on top. You may not end up as President, but there's no way you're going to spend your days as a burger-flipper!

Yes I would like to see the edited version and also hear about the help you sought. There is no need to put yourself down by calling it crappy. If you do that often enough you start to believe yourself.
Post away Jay.
