I have a world premiere of three pieces of music of mine coming up on sunday 12th. (all for string orchestra.)
One piece (or rather its associations) is very important to me and I desperately hope it goes well.
I shall have it recorded and certainly one of our number (he knows who he is) will get a copy.
Wish me luck guys! I'll feel better knowing you're behind me!

Good luck, Oliver. Are you going to let us know where it's taking place?

Good luck, Oliver!
Without, of course, wanting you to 'out' yourself, what sort of music is it? Why is it so personal to you?
I'd be really interested to learn more about what you do. I'm a frightful musician myself, but I very much appreciate the work of people who are better than I am.

Hi Deej
The pieces are for string orchestra (one, in fact, for double string orchestra) and I suppose you could say my 'voice' is descended from Britten, Bartok, Bach and one or two of the great Elizabethan composers, mainly Byrd.
Actually the springboards for the double-string piece is Dowland's "Lachrymae" and the "Old 100th" I wrote this piece in memory of my love for him and for all the other passions I have had for the unattainable.
Best wishes

Hi Oliver,
You're not rambling -- I found that very interesting! Thank you. I'd love to hear some of your work some day.
Best wishes,
David
P.S. How do you know your friend isn't gay, and isn't just closeted like you?

I wish I could be there and enjoy your music!

Thanks, Oliver, for your "ramble". Sounds wonderful. Hope it went well.
I don't know if the board can take an attached audio file; it does take pictures (maybe only of famous gays) but at least an excerpt from your premier would give us a hint of what we missed - or perhaps an attachment to an eMail to those interested.
All best, Mac

Thanks for all your support! Knowing that some people 'out there' knew about it certainly had a positive effect on me. The piece I was concerned with, that it should go well, did go well. We managed to create a special atmosphere in the venue; one could hear a pin drop for the duration; it takes about 8-9 minutes to play, mostly soft music. The audience clapped long and loud after the piece was over, which was gratifying. The 'official' sound-man's machine broke down just before the concert. Luckily (or was it fate?) I had my mini-disc recorder and it seems to have come out reasonably. I'm having it transferred to CD. If I can, I'll try and send a short soundfile when I get it.
Thanks for all your support. We'll see what the critic says about it in the newspaper!
Best wishes

Tim,
Can you... or is it possible that a page could be created that we might be able to hear the piece.
It would be nice to hear it.....
Life is great for me... Most of the time... But then I meet people online... Very few are real friends... Many say they are but know nothing of what it means... Some say they are, but are so shallow...

It is easy to do, but that depends on the composer.
