(You know I'm wasting all my time)
You've gotta mean it when you say what you want
(You're only safe when you're alone)
And everybody's on your mind
Saying anything to get you by

Do you want to tell us more about the actual job or do you want us to quiz you on it and give an opinion, or have you already made up your mind. I have some thoughts if you want to hear them.

Did you apply on line? Which job did you apply for?

How about the extra driving? It's pretty obvious from your previous posts that you enjoy driving - but do you get paid for it? Are you driving a company vehicle, or your own? And are you paid for the TIME you spend driving?

My impression (so far as you can get an impression on a messageboard!) is that you have the personality to communicate well, especially when it's all spoken communication rather than written communication. Is there a store anywhere near you which uses Actionlink personnel? The best source of info about how good or bad a job is, is someone already doing that job!

And how would it fit in with pilot training, if that goes ahead? Obviously, income while you train would be very useful!

I know that this reply seems to be just a list of questions, but if you provide answers we'll all have a better chance to give you good advice!

Hmm. I don't think there's anything I can ask that someone else hasn't already asked.

If you're not being paid for the driving, and they are not supplying the car, then you may end up doing a huge number of hours and get nothing for them. Even if the company pays you something, this may not cover all the wear and tear on your car as well as your time. Petrol money is not enough.

You should make sure at the very least that they are paying you a good amount per mile that works out -- once you have done the calculations -- at considerably more than you will be spending yourself. Better still would be if they were to provide you with a company car, and pay you in full for your time and petrol. That way you could ensure they were not getting a rather good deal out of you.

I have a friend that worked for a company like this (it may have been the same company... who knows)...

She was one of those nice ladies that try and force some god awful piece of cooked dead animal of unknown origin down your throat when you are innocently attempting to nondescriptly purchase your weekly supply of groceries. She did not get a car..... she got $.09 per mile for her travel trouble.....

The work was as she put it, not very steady..... She left for greener pastures after 5 months.....

That was 4 years ago and we still talk about when she would be getting her milage check.....

Now....... For some real heads up........

If you are on a trip to one of their work locations and the car you are driving breaks down.... Will they cover the repair bill?

Insurance rules in most states require that an employee while under the umbrella of "employ" not drive privately insured vehicles. Check with your insurance provider to be sure you will remain covered in case of a road mishap.

Life is great for me... Most of the time... But then I meet people online... Very few are real friends... Many say they are but know nothing of what it means... Some say they are, but are so shallow...

Driving for independent films is a bit like that. At best, you'll get petrol costs, but you won't get insurance or wear and tear money. This applies in many cases even if they endeavour to pay you. But then, people work in independent film to gain experience, not to make money -- everyone chips in on the basis that sooner or later people you have worked for or with will be willing to work for you on an expenses-only basis. It's an industry based on trust. There are, unfortunately, some companies that exploit this and make very cheap films with large but not terribly experienced crews which are paid virtually nothing.

Of course, I'm fully aware of this. The aim is always to work for reputable production companies that pay people in proportion to their skills.
