Why gay?
Why am I coward?
Why can't I just grab what I want?
Why do I hate myself?
Why can't I be normal?

And why can't I ans these questions?

So say what you want
(You know I'm wasting all my time)
You've gotta mean it when you say what you want
(You're only safe when you're alone)
And everybody's on your mind
Saying anything to get you by

... but, Jay, I promise you that I'll be back tomorrow.

Until then, you need to know that you're a thoroughly good guy, with plenty to contribute. You ARE normal - it's just screwed-up American religion that makes you feel differently. You are NOT a coward. There is absolutely NO reason why you should hate yourself. As for grabbing what you want, it's a bit harder when you're gay than it is when you're straight - but it ISN'T impossible. And you've got friends here who will be there for you whatever happens.

Jay

you are normal for you - and that is as normal as anyone (gay or straight) ever is.

please *don't* hate yourself - you're a good guy, valued here: you are worthy of being liked and loved, and are certainly liked here! We're not all crazy, there's a lot in you to like ... please see how you can like yourself as well!

and few of us can just grab what we want without any support - and we're all ere to support you in what you choose to do!

Just luck

If you were you would not be posting here

Because you are a normal, moral, decent guy and do not grab

> Why do I hate myself?
Because we all hate ourselves sometimes.

> Why can't I be normal?
You are. You have nothing abnormal about you. You're a normal, healthy person

> And why can't I ans these questions?
In a way you have already, just by asking them

Jay, I wonder if you like to take a few minutes and think about all the good things you do and are, and what your friends tell you. Then make a list of them and post them here to help us get to know you.

And don't say you haven't got any because I won't believe you. I'll start the list with your poetry. You have said you often stop over at friends because you don't like going home. If you didn't have good points, people wouldn't let you stop over with them.

Hugs
Nigel

... I'm not the only one who understands your virtues and talents!

Nigel's idea is a seriously good one. Posting a list of the good things you see in yourself is an excellent antidote against worrying about what you (wrongly!) see as bad things!

It would depend on the manner and the context he said it in whether it justified decking him and losing a best friend. Do you think you acted in haste or was it what you had to do?

I guess the answer really depends on the tone of voice. But that voicemail can also be ignored.

A valid answer is to laugh and say "What do you think?" and then chuckle at the answer.
