How different and how similar are these?
  • Parent for child
  • Child for parent
  • Lover for beloved
  • Sibling for sibling
  • Mentor for "mented"
  • Mented for mentor
To me I see little difference except in direction, for some lead to a sexually fulfilling expereince and others do not, or should not. The love is present, if it is present at all, in the same degree, with the same intensity. Many of us here have the privilege of loving and many have the different privilege of being loved.

I am so thankful to be experiencing most of these right now.

I truly believe that the most "unconditional" and forgiving of these is the "parent for child", although "mentor for mented" can be similar or probably even identical. To me, that really helps explain God as "the father" and us as "his children" - the unconditional, forgiving, total love.

Of course, unconditional and forgiving are just two aspects or attributes of love.
